Blame Clinton. Bush sent them in, people seem to forget that fact when convenient.

You're asking *why* it was a screw up. The original point was that it *was* a screw up, there was no question of why.

Whoever's fault it was, it was still a screw up.

LOL I'm not blaming anyone, but number 4 seemed surprised that Al Qaeda was in Somalia, and in fact they were, and they did fund the terrorist cells there. I said nothing about blame, just filling him in on who was involved behind the scenes of this battle.

And how was it a major fuck up? Because we were undermanned and undergunned and sent men into a situation that we knew little about thanks to poor intelligence via the Clinton Administration?

Or was it a fuck up simply because we were trying to help those people?

You be the judge....

No way #5, i mean cmon we know somalia was a major fck up for the US but blaming the Al Qaeda is a little OTT ain't it?

Ya'll just lookin for anytin & anyone to blame right now which is fully understandable under the present circumstances, but this whole crazy war crusade has gotta stop.

"al Quaida was in Somalia"

yes who do you think financed all the attackers?

this battle was our first real run in with them

While it is true that local Somali Islamic extremists with links to Al-Qaeda as well as foreign Al-Quaeda elements were present in parts of Somalia from the early 1990s, the UN, humanitarian NGOs and Western journalists on the ground in Somalia have confirmed that, as of present, the Al-Qaeda elements and their local alllies have long since fled Somalia in the aftermath after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the US reprisals against the Al-Qaeda/Taliban alliance in Afghanistan.

Since the enemy forces in this game are supposed to be al qaeda, it would be difficult to refer to them as being intelligent to begin with.

The biggest issue we had was the enemy AI in the game. The enemies you have to fight may be numerous but they tend to fire their weapons all of the place at times and even passed right by us a few times without firing a shot. At other times enemy soldiers and vehicles were on highly scripted pathways that made them pretty easy picking.

With their track history, NovaLogic should market it as their own No-AI™ technology.

You know selling dlc before you patch the client doesn't impress upon me the need to support your shit. -massdev
