I'm only getting 22KB/s from there. Still, beats the 0KB/s I was getting from everywhere else I tried.

Still, a couple of hours and it will be down, and I can try another program to test the lenght of my e-penis.

Cheers,

Luckily, I have no bandwidth quota. Note...I have seen some difficults getting the file to begin transfer since the server is getting overloaded. I'm trying to get a work around so at the very least you see some useful information. I've just changed the httpd.conf file a bit so that seems to help. Please let me know what you think of the site. admin@lighthousefiles.com

Luckily, I have no bandwidth quota.

That's what you think. Start racking up those Gigabytes and terrabytes and someone will start kicking up a fuss.

My download is now at 16KB/s

If you have suggestions on creating revenue other than ads, I might be able to afford getting a bigger pipe for the server. Thoughts anyone? Other than subscription.

It says it requires DX9... last I heard that was still in beta (...?). Has a new version been released and is it worth the upgrade?

Heh, thats a good one!

You should talk to Blue...we've been posting suggestions every now and then when the good old revenue discussion reared its ugly head again!!

BRING IT ON!

(I'm all for more popups)

Your kidding right? It's been out for several months, the final version of DX9, ATI DX9 display drivers and downloadable versions of the ATI DX9 demos.

They were worth the dl for me, since I have a DX9 card. There wasn't really any improvement in games since there are no DX9 games out yet. Try to find the original reviews when it came out just to be sure.

If you have Windows XP, even better, since you can set a system restore point incase DX9 doesn't agree with your card.

I'm not for popups. Unobtrusive ads will be about as far as I'll go. What is everyone's experience from the site so far? http://lighthousefiles.com

Hm. All I have is a GeForce 2 Ultra... methinks the results of the benchmark wouldn't be so impressive anyway ^_^/

Well, since your site is still giving me 30k/s even though the whole world seems to be downloading this benchmark right now (I believe the current wait at fileplanet is well over two hours), you get my vote

I think you've just become my primary file download site!

As for revenue options, ehhh... I think partnering might be the best way to go, but I'm not sure if that's feasible or not. Ad banners if you can get them. Nobody would mind a single pop-up or two, as long as you don't swamp people with 2 every click they make.
Btw, I think that putting some ad banners on your site, and then quite plainly asking people to click them every now and then to help cover your costs works very well. If I see something like that, I'll always click on the banner once I'm done at the site in question. Penny Arcade seems to get a massive response from their readers by asking them to just check things out, which makes advertisers very happy.
Hope some of that helps, thanks for making a great download site

I appreciate your support. It's been difficult trying to get everything going. I'm actually thinking about increasing the pipe but that'll double my cost. At this point, I don't have any real revenue coming in unless people buy crucial through the link on my site. Thanks again for your kind words. If you think you could help in any way--(news on the site etc.)--feel free to e-mail me at admin@lighthousefiles.com. Keeping a pulse of the community might be the only way I make this work.

I'm of the humble opinion these sorts of things are only really useful for forum .sig bragging and blah-blah bemoaning/praising an extra .005% of performance that was lost/gained in a driver revision, not really of any value.

c'mon - is anyone with me on this?

I don't know your real name but you were the first and only guy to comment on this list with a working mirror. Moreover, you are the owner of the web site for the mirror that is currently keeping me afloat for this benchmark. On behalf of myself and everyone else I give this benchmark to, I'd like to say that you kick ass.

Kutos to you
