Out of the Blue

As always it was fun watching all those over-pampered pooches in the first half of the Westminster last night, and it was neat seeing the Airedale place second to that juggernaut Kerry Blue Terrier (which, as you can imagine, is another of my favorite breeds, along with the Blue Tick Bloodhound). It was very disappointing, however, to see that Joe Garagiola's stint on the broadcast has ended. I'm sorry I didn't see a news article on the switch, which was made to boringly coherent Mark McEwen, as it would have allowed for a chance to start a petition on the topic. Oh well, there's always next year. In memory of Buck Laughlin: "Doctor, question that's always bothered me and a lot of people: Mayflower, combined with Philadelphia -- a no-brainer, right? Cause this is where the Mayflower landed. Not so. It turns out Columbus actually set foot somewhere down in the West Indies. Little known fact."

Play Time: Raisin Sweeper. Thanks Carla.

Do yourself a favor and rent Best In Show. It'll all make sense then.

While you're at it, check out Waiting for Guffman and This is Spinal Tap if you haven't.

Nah, I didn't get it either, but then I don't know who Buck Laughlin is, so maybe that's why. I don't understand the Mayflower = Philadelphia since the pilgrims landed in Massachusetts nor how that relates to Columbus landing in the West Indies (with the Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria)

Or maybe that's the point? Mayflower != Philadelphia and Columbus != Discovering America ?

Am I the only one who is completely perplexed by today's OotB? I know the first half is about the dog show, but after that... ???

Oh well, I guess I should get back to work now...

Outlive your kids?

Actually, what I believe he said was that the dog you select may end up living with you longer than your kids... not living longer than your kids.

...That bizarre comment while the toy group was out? It was something to the effect of "this breed can be really long lived, up to 20 years.....it just goes to show you when chosing a dog, you really need to look ahead because this dog just might outlive you, or your kids"

Outlive your kids? It just struck me as such a morbid prediction.....20 year olds dropping dead and an old dog still running around...

Oh well.....still laughing too hard from Dave Chappell's preformance here at VT last night. HOKIES!

We don't have this jumping college dropout freak on our telly, but I saw him a while ago on American TV. What. Were. They. Thinking.

Over-pampered pooches in Westminster? Ah, so you've seen our parliamentary process in action then.

Did your son ever explain why he should go to jail?

To understand a 4-5 yo... where do I start

I'm sure he has heard me say on more than one occasion that I didn't like that series of commercials and the spokesperson in particular.

Where he came up with jail is beyond me.

I didn't catch the dog show last night, but is Joe Garagiola really gone? I sort of have mixed feelings: he was terrible, didn't have any dog knowledge and frequently flubbed/made amusing inappropriate comments.

On the plus side, though: he was terrible, didn't have any dog knowledge and frequently flubbed/made amusing inappropriate comments.

My favorite character in that movie is Larry Miller as the guy who talks down jumpers.

Talking his son down from the shed roof: "I'll gouge your right eye with my thumb! I'm gonna punch you in the eye till it turns to jelly! I'll stab you with forks till you bleed, how bout that?!"

Dude = my 5 yo son always says 'He should go to jail!' everytime he sees one of those Dell commercials. A premonition?

For some reason that really struck me as funny. Did your son ever explain why he should go to jail?

Of course I could be wrong... but really, what are the chances of that happening twice?

Dogs = I've never watched more than 10 minutes of the show. Having seen the movie I can't imagine why they would make the boneheaded decision to make a change of hosts.

Tequila = never had that one...shame tho as it is one of my favorite types of alcohol
