Messenger. It's a service used for sending network messages and such. And some blood sucking scum of a spammer is using it to spam people.
You can stop it by running CMD(command prompt) under NT and typeing
"net stop messenger"
Or by going into services and stopping it there.
Hmm, I'm wondering if these aren't traditional pop-up's your expertiencing. Recently I found that even when I wasn't using my browser I would get strange pop-up ads. I thought maybe it was something I could catch using ad-aware but I ran it several times and got nothing.
as I have recently been afflicted by a bout of self-spawning pop-ups... I can only hope the 40-some suspicious items it found on my computer included the source of this bother so it can be eliminated.
