Ships Ahoy - BF 1942: The Road to Rome

EA Ship Battlefield 1942 The Road to Rome for the PC is the press release announcing the Sicilian campaign expansion for the World War II combat game is now available. On a related note, Mega-Battlefield1942 Mega-Bf1942 + Editing (thanks Tiscali Games) has 2D overview maps of each of the areas included in the add-on. Here's a bit on The Road to Rome from the press release: "Focusing on the Italian and Sicilian campaigns of WWII, players can choose to fight on six new maps including Operation Husky (Sicily) and the battles for Anzio and Monte Cassino. Each map contains highly detailed environments featuring elements such as Italian houses, Mediterranean trees and the Monte Cassino Monastery. Controllable vehicles are the heart of the original Battlefield 1942 experience and The Road to Rome delivers by offering eight new vehicles, including the German BF-110 and British Mosquito twin-engine fighter-bombers, in addition to the more than 30 vehicles in the original title. There are also new Italian, British and German vehicles and anti-tank guns."

...has anybody noticed the lag monster appearing with 1.3 or is just me ?

Since upgrading from the Road to Rome addon (patch ver 1.25) I am regularly getting pings in excess of 300, but usually much higher like in the 1000+ range, under the latest patch almost all of the games showing in the browser appear in this range too. Uninstalling the game and sticking with 1.25 sorts the problem out 100% but the whole benefit of 1.3 is the tweaked infantry combat, the lack of a CD check between map loads and a whole heap of other goodness.

I'm running on an XP2600, 768mb RAM, Ti4200 128mb @ 1mb cable connection (with no known issues on the ISP front)

EA Support is its typical crap self with piss poor response times (5 days, 3 emails later and counting) so was wondering if anyone here had the same issues / possible solutions ?

B: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?

P: I think so, Brain, but where are we going to find a duck and a hose at this hour?
