Well, the "no sales tax" is not a 100% exact thing.
However, at least with how things are right now, you do not pay sales tax unless you order from a state that these companies have headquarters in. The rules are slightly different from site to site...
Living in California, neither Gamestop nor EBGames charge sales tax on my (internet) orders. However, California makes it a bit harder to shop for hardware items; some days, I swear that
every retailer is within the state.
It is not a huge thing, but it does add up here and there (it would cost me *more* to purchase
Splinter Cell locally, now that the shipping is free) and it can have a bigger impact on a more expensive item. If I order $2,000 worth of hardware, I can "save" $165 (8.25% sales tax.)
