Unreal II Demo Still Possible [Jan 29, 2003, 8:11 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
A post on Unreal Ops (thanks Shacknews)
has an email from Legend's Glen Dalhgren that says that although the recent
report that there would be no demo for Unreal II (story) was
based on statements they had made all along, they are currently revisiting
whether a demo for the now-gold Unreal sequel is still possible. Here's a bit:
"Now that Unreal II has gone gold, we've been exploring the possibility
with Infogrames and Epic, which is something that Headup wasn’t aware of.
FWIW, everyone involved—including Legend—is very conscious of the benefits
of a demo, and we’d all love to do it. I hope to have more news soon."

Well all i can say is that i'll be buying it now i've seen it in the flesh.. I probably would of anyway. It's not like we're spoilt for choice for good FPS' anyway

I just figured out that Unreal 2 the *COMPLETE* version is already available online.. This is NOT the E3 Alpha we saw 1 year ago already, but this is the official 2cd release!

I can tell you now, for sure, that Unreal ][ is awesome. Buy it. Sell your granny for it. It *is* as good as the hype, if not better.
You think that MAYBE they read all the disgruntled peoples' complaints on the 'Net (because you can be sure that this wasn't the only place with 104 and counting posts in a WHY NO UNREAL II DEMO?!! thread), and changed their minds based on the number of "No Demo, No Sale!" posts?
That would be a very comforting thought, to know that gamers can still make a SMALL difference in this business.

They reversed their decision because I sent them a an email telling them what a bunch of jackasses they are for not releasing a demo and that they had better do it or else... (I used the ... for dramatic effect, to kinda let it hang out there for them to think about). It has obviously worked and you can all thank me by sending money

Heck, after all the hoopla, might as well, they'll probably have even more people download it now than otherwise would. There's no such thing as bad publicity...

Oh well... a demo after the release is pretty much useless in my case since I normally have made my choice on "to buy or not to buy" by then.

...I think that they should, even if in a limited form (small portion of a level, benchmark utility).
