Enclave Demo

This Sierra FTP Directory now offers a new playable demo for Enclave, the PC port of Starbreeze Studios' hack-and-slash RPG that's already available on the Xbox. The demo is a 190 MB download that was discovered by 3D Gamers, where they have posted a mirror. Update: A mirror is also available on Worthplaying. According to 3D Gamers' description: "The massive download offers a part of the Light Campaign playable as the Knight character."

Is this game anything like Rune? Man its better, ALOT better! In fact if you are looking for a hardcore hack-slash, with some serious melee fighting, try Blade of Darkness. [BOD] That is absolutly the best fantasy fighting game i have ever played, on any platform! And better yet, you could probably pick it up for around $20 by now!
----------------------------------------
The checkpoint system was introduced because the xbox version contained almost NO checkpoints in the entire game, making it unbelievably difficult to beat. [and stupid, they used it just to make the game seem longer than it really was] That one fact was spammed all over when the game came out. We didnt ask for, nor did we want lots of save points, just 1 or 2. Usually the "bosses" are at the end of the levels and they are H-A-R-D to beat on the xbox! Plus, some of the levels were very, very, very long. So when you died, [which you definitly would] you would have to play the entire level ALL over again, just to get to the first boss again! Thank god they fixed that!
----------------------------------------
If you havent played Rune, id say save your money and either buy this game, or buy B.O.D. Rune was OK, but everyone who has played it and these 2 others can say without a doubt that its not as good. Plus Runes multiplayer requires a good broadband connect. [if there are even people still playing it anymore] BOD has the gladiators arena mod, and this might possibly have multiplayer....??

Blade of Darkness was a great game. This Enclave (never heard of it before) looks VERY promising cause the demo is simply amazing! I just played some U2 and thought that it had pretty good gfx and very nice textures etc etc. Then i just wanted to try this game out for a change and I'm blown away. Have you guys tried the game on all the highest settings? Thats the most crisp/best textures i have ever seen. And even though I ran u2 pretty good, this game ran in like 120 fps at least! Im really gonna look out for this game when its released.

Im glad to see that people remembers Blade of Darkness, I loved this game and I was a great fan of the developers, "Rebel Act"; its so sad that we will not be able to play Blade2... damn Codemasters, they f@#ked up the game distribution in USA and caused the closing of Rebel Act

Btw, im downloading the demo, looks good

It's a good demo.. but the Assassin seems stronger than the Knight for some reason. I thought the Knight would be better in meele combat but he seems to get hurt even more than the women. Oh well.. it's still cool.

When's this supposed to be out for the PC?

excellent, this is exactly the type of game I've been waiting for.. some of the other games have been great fun but usually a little TOO expanded. I don't have time to go search for things etc, I just want a good 30 minutes of hardcore gaming, and this really did the trick! Great game!

And it even ran pretty decent on my crappy gf2mx400.. damnit, when is that 9500PRO coming in?!!? LOL

Hehe, yes the last bastion of the Severance\Blade community. Good to see you m8. Enclave is long, but then the XBox version had no mid-level saving, which I suppose artificially lengthened the game (no bad thing, I relished every moment with the game and still do).

Anyway there are 30ish levels, split between the Light and Dark campaigns, and IMHO there is plenty of replay value if you really get into the game. I've finished it on the XBox, but that didn't stop me playing it. I go back and play levels with different characters and different weapons, hunt for secrets and collect every last bit of gold etc (you can go to any level you've already played from the map screen, choose your char and equipment and jump in). And now I'm looking forward to playing the whole thing through again on the PC!

Ahh, I thought you were familiar. From Arokh's Lair, right? I haven't been by there in ages... I'll definately take your word for it on this one then. Since you played the one on XBox, was it very long? Replay well(Looks to as you can play good/bad side of the game)?

It's like Rune, but precisely 97 times better.

Seriously though if you like Rune (IMHO a very poor cousin of Severance and Enclave) then I recommend just downloading the Enclave demo, you won't be sorry.

Btw the checkpoints have been added for the PC version, they weren't there in the XBox game, you couldn't save mid-level except for one or two exceptional situations (at which points you could activate a checkpoint, but you lost gold if you subsequently died and actually used it).

If you play on hard skill the checkpoints won't be there btw.

It looked amazing on the XBox, but it doesn't half look good in high res!

Yes Enclave has some gorgeous outdoor areas. It's an incredible game, it may not have the detailed combat of Severance: Blade of Darkness (though there are 'combos' in a sense, and it's not just a click-fest believe me, it gets difficult and you need to learn how to fight) or any real RPG elements, but it has a lot of depth in terms of character and weapon\item choices etc. Incredible game on the XBox, and will be even better on the PC

Fun game. But does it have outdoor areas? And is it multiplayer? Morrowind needs multiplayer

It was described as a hack-and-slash RPG... you expected a deep, meaningful roleplaying experience? Or did you want a complex combat system? I'm curious. Shallow is the name of the game here I think... strategy is probably an unwanted complication. If I want that, and sometimes I do, I'd look elsewhere. I do agree with you about the checkpoint save system. I could have done without that reminder of it's console roots.

While it is pretty to look at the gameplay is limited. Sure there is going to be a variety of weapons and character classes and armor, there are no special moves for the weapons, just pounding away on the mouse. There is no strategy it's just hacking away. That's very shallow.

Plus it has the checkpoint save system which I can't stand in consoles games.

Very nice indeed. Only had a while to play it (papers to grade *sigh*) but I liked it. No issues (on my rig anyway) and good controls. The models, animations, and effects looked very good. Going to have another go at it tomorrow, but it is impressive.

This is a must download!
