Out of the Blue

Happy Super Bowl Sunday. I heard a radio commercial a while back that made the point that if there was anything that could qualify as National Man's Day here in the U.S. this would be that. I don't know if that's true, but there does seem to be the the scent of testosterone in the air. Maybe I'll go and warm up by crushing some beer cans against my head (though this time I think I'll empty them first... last time I tried it with full ones I made a huge mess).

The appeal of sports???!!!
Please!

It's the classic clash of man against man, who is the the strongest, fastest, most skilled, most cunning...etc.
Entire cities rally behind "their team" and identify with "their players". It can bring a whole friggin' state (or country for that matter) to a fever point of utter emotional frenzy. The players are an extension of YOU when they're out on the field. You live & die with them! I know it's just a game, but really, it's more than that. (Just like Quake is only a game!)

As a gamer, you MUST understand competition, and not everyone can play PROFESSIONAL SPORTS DUDE! Sports rule.

You fix your mascara, I'll watch football with some close friends. You shop and play games in isolation, sports allows you to interact with other drunks, er.... people and have a great time!

I thought there were a few good ones. I really liked the "office linebacker" ad.

The eBay feedback system, or more so the people who use it guess, is totally shiznit! I built myself up a PERFECT (no negatives) rating of 134, I recently left a NEUTRAL rating (not a negative) for someone becuase their add was sligthly mis-leading.. Buu I was happy enough to keep ths goods nonetheless.

THen this shiznit head comes along and replies with a NEGATIVE saying sorry and all this shiznit! What??? Why the hell do I get a negative rating? I did nothing wrong whatsover, except for finding one of those arsholes that seem to be where ever you go in this world today. Now my prefect rating is ruined! ... What shiznit!!!

salarydoubler will only double your salary if you enter a positive number, which is fair enough for this stupid shit right. but it's error message is 'please enter a REAL number', hey dude negatives and fractions are real numbers. sheesh, as if i could be paid an imaginary salary figure.. er wait a minute.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the big deal is about watching grown men getting payed too much money to run around chasing a little ball and touch each other. Somehow, though a lot of guys consider that manly.

Whatever.

Har, har, WP[d].

Actually, I never really understood the appeal of sports, at least when watching them on the television rather than playing them. I enjoy basketball and still play a game now and then, but I never really felt the appeal of sitting on my couch watching other people play the sport. I will not even begin to discuss the "my team" and "your team" aspect of it.

If I do accidentally stumble upon the Super Bowl while switching between channels, the commercials are the only thing that I find even remotely interesting.

As I said, the real benefit of the Super Bowl, as far as I am concerned, is the decrease of people at the malls, computer stores, and on the roads.

w00t!

I used to watch it every year, but in the past four my
attention for the gameday has receded.

I'd rather play NFL Blitz or Super High Impact with my
family than watch it again.

Maybe it's the lack of an interesting professional sport's
team here in Oregon(we've got the Trailblazers...woopie...).
Or maybe it's because I have to unplug the digital satellite
and pop in the regular tv antenna. Either way, I think I'll
go do something else...

And who cares who wins

I know some people hate the Raiders out of principle, but I find it hard to believe there are a lot of people outside of Tampa Bay who are going to be happy if Keyshawn "Just Throw Me the Damn Ball" Johnson and Warren "Yapp" Sapp finish the season on top with something to justify all their self promotion. I know I'm worried that the first time one of them showed up on Letterman or Leno (or Kimmel?) to show off their ring, I'd be likely to pull an Elvis and shoot the television.

Oh well, I hope it's a good game anyway.

I'm going to side with Oakland today. Just can't bring myself to root for TB.

Sooner this is over the better...then we can start looking for free agents and the draft.

I can't wait to get into next season...

Oh, right! That is what makes driving around and shopping today so much easier for myself.

Willing to watch the game...if it had the game portions cut out

Just what would you be shopping for Ray, a new skirt?

I just wish there was a way both of these teams could lose. The only matchup I'd dislike more would have been a Dallas / Oakland matchup. Oh well, I hope it's a good game anyway.

Ray, you know I'm just kidding, right?
