etc.

  • Terminal gaming (thanks JUDGECAL) reports "A Hong Kong computer game enthusiast has been found slumped dead at a terminal in a game centre after playing non-stop for hours." Unlike previous similar stories that described marathon gaming sessions, the now-dead gamer apparently expired after an approximately five hour Diablo II session...
  • HTNetIRC is now taking their formerly-private IRC network public, which centers on a small community focused on creating and playing computer games...

Journalists always exagerate. It's happened with me once.

You once died after coding for 5 hours?

I don't want to add to the bad taste of some comments. That death is sad, off course.

I just find that's it's a bit strange to link it with video games. If I died after a 5 hours coding session at work no one would say that coding is dangerous. But if the person was playing a videogame, then it becomes a news story.

"I've played games for 72 hours straight before, so yes, hardcore gamers do exist."

I do not prefer the term "hardcore gamer".

They don't exist. Really. There are gamers, and that's it. Plus, if there were hardcore gamers, then it wouldn't be determined by the amount of time they have spent on games. Rather, it would be determined by how they were affected by games.

I've played games for 72 hours straight before, so yes, hardcore gamers do exist.

When Fallout Tactics first came out, I played it non-stop for a FULL MONTH. I'd play in sessions about 32hours long, eat twice while playing, a couple quick restroom breaks, sleep for 8 hours, then another 32 hours straight playing (for a month!). EDIT: Oh yeah, I guess I showerd like 5 or 6 times that month...

And I'm not dead.

They never existed, sir.

Depends if your taking large ammounts of stimulants or not. OD on stimulants, have a heart attack, or something else. Goto a less then reputable place, and drink some spiked water(this is why you always bring your own drinks)..ect

Well it was actually the shops that put up warings and not the police, but police are more funny "Nothing to see here folks, move along"

I know, these stories crack me up, I can't wait to see anti-gaming sites use these as shock tactics.

I might be offended if it wasn't so absurd

EDIT: Better yet, I want to see an Onion or Slate article satirizing these, if they've already done one plz post the link. Thanks.

All I could think when reading this was "Hmm, obviously, he attacked Diablo and lost."
