Black Hawk Down Dates

NovaLogic sends along this short announcement with word on when to expect the release of the next installment in the Delta Force series, as well as the single and multiplayer demo for Black Hawk Down. Here's the deal:
CALABASAS, CA (January 13th, 2003) - Entertainment software developer and publisher NovaLogic, Inc. today announced that they were on target to hit a new street date of March 25th, 2003 for the next installment in the Delta Force series on the PC, Delta Force - Black Hawk Down.

The company also announced that a single and multiplayer demo for the game would be available at the beginning of February. More details about the demo will be released shortly.

Set in Somalia in 1993, Delta Force - Black Hawk Down is based upon and around the Operation Restore Hope and Task Force Ranger campaigns and follows members of the elite Delta Force, U.S. Army Rangers, 10th Mountain Division and the Night Stalkers as they participate in a number of daring raids against the oppressive Somali warlords in and around Mogadishu.

The MP demo was vaguely amusing, but hardly "state of the art" or revolutionary in any respect. Both urban combat MP scenarios and vehicular combat have been done miles better in other games (and the vehicles being freely-controllable instead of "on rails".

The SP demo was a letdown primarily because of the standard shitty AI that is now almost traditional in the Delta Force series. Both Marines and Adid's men alike have no tactical sense whatsoever - they don't even attempt to dodge each other's bullets....

I was actually giving this game some consideration as a purchase, but based on what I've seen and played so far, I may just wait until it's floating around the bottom of a bargain bin...

There was a SP demo released just last week Dignan (and a previous MP test), The SP demo was from a CD off a mag.

However, Novalogic said that a newer demo would be released that incorporated SP & MP in one release that addressed a number of reported issues (no specifics on what issues they were 'fixing' though - hopefully AI!!)

I'm the other way around. I didn't really like the MP demo, but the SP demo was quite fun and I'd consider buying this. If I am assured that the AI will be improved. Now that is hidious in the SP demo, I swear they spent more time on AI in the MP demo!

If the AI can:
1) Attempt to take cover
2) Hit a cow's arse with a banjo

then I'll read reviews and consider a purchase. Just today I was staring in amazement as a bad guy and one of my team mates stood, full exposed (well, they had clothes on, but no cover ), not more than 8 feet away from each other. Both had automatic weapons. Neither hit each other for a good 20 seconds. It was like that scene out of Naked Gun! Eventually I gave up in disgust and wasted the bad guy with one bullet. The good guy was lucky to escape my wrath.

Cheers,

I think they forgot "And lose." at the end of the game blurb.
