#30... you see a differnce... 29 offers constructive criticsm...

allthough... I may point out to 20 that there will be some new manuals online soon, like a walk through, purge isnt that confusing once you get the hang of it... and its really fun when you get some good teamplay going... you have somepeople doing defence... repairing the portal, setting up barriers.. resupplying ammo health.. and othersdoing offense... thats the way to have fun... thats how it was in the closed betas... but the open beta people just run around and shoot... they dont know how to work as a team..

I downloaded the game and played it for about 20 mins..which is long enough to know if it's worthwhile to beta test the game and to form a general opinion about it. I happen to appreciate games for the games that they are and not the 'engine' that they were built with. Quake2/3 was good because it was a well executed design...it would have been a fun game if it had been using sprites instead of being in it's 3d glory.

Unreal Tournament , Return to Castle Wolfenstien, America's Army, NOLF & NOLF2 are all superb examples of exceptional games using different game 'engines'. I loved NOLF2 by the way..but anyway...

Purge...the item of contempt for most of you here...is really not THAT bad..cmon. I thought the level design was pretty top-notch...I didnt' even notice the sounds being placeholders. My only complaint is that it is very unintuitive. What the hell are you supposed to do ? Who is a teammate and who is not? Are there teams? The concept is good...fantasy-vs-future...but I have to agree that the beta needs a TON of work for it to be really fun instead of confusing and boring like it is now. I happen to think the latest lith-tech engine looks damn good, on par with a lot of stuff in UT2k3 and other 'big name' engines....so graphics are top-notch in Purge..but the gameplay needs a lot of refinement. Maybe on a lan it plays fine, but over the internet the lag is pretty horrible...my shots were firing in directios not even close to the person I was aiming at (think shooting south but on-screen the shot flies straigt east). All in All, a very promising game but needs a lot of TLC still and needs GOOD feedback that the developers can take to heart instaed of the pre-pubescent bitching and belly-aching that you guys are doing here.

Also, I hope you realize the only reason game companies still do betas is that they work pretty well as a marketing tool. :/

notaTroll I think what people are complaining about here is that yes it is a beta but usually when they release it to the general public that most of the sounds and graphics are the ones to be used. In all my beta testing (I've beta tested about 8 games now) I have never had a game come to me with "bogus" sounds that weren't in the full game.

I have not downloaded this game but I can tell you right now that there is nothing here that grabs peoples attention to it cause there are so many other Massive Multiplayer games that are coming out that have had more media hype.

You can love the LithTech engine all you want but if the graphics and game play don't grab the player then the game means nothing.

its a beta... the only sounds are place holders... BETA, not demo B E T A

as for the concept, i assume you dont know about the skills, or how much the details actually affect your game play

Okay I actually downloaded and played it.

The game is very dated. The graphics the animation and the textures are better than C.S. but they are still dated I don't know who will buy this game. The sound effects are horrible. The game does have a good imagination in terms of concept. There are some cool weapons but the engine is too dated.

Why do people insist on treating a beta as if it were a demo? You don't download a BETA to get an impression of the game. You download a beta because you WANT TO HELP the game's development by finding and reporting bugs.

I did download this after i was accepted into the beta played it for a half hour and promptly deleted it.

Half Life still looks better and has better gameplay/netcode. LithTech Engine is not known for it's network code either which was another sore point playing against 1 other person at the time.

no you wont get a cd because there are no cds, there are downloads, there has never been a purge beta cd, you guys are bitching that its not a good ut clone because that is what you wanty, you spawn and then instantyly try tking everyone, and your own portal... PURGE IS NOT A UT CLONE... why dont you try reading up a bit, honestly... those posts down there just show your guys' level of inteligence..
