On PC Halo

There's some Halo: Combat Evolved for PC news on GameSpot with a status report on the PC version of the Xbox shooter. The article recounts the history of this project as a PC/Mac project that was assimilated into an Xbox project upcoming Microsoft's acquisition of Bungie, how Gearbox happened to become involved in the PC port, some of the technical hurdles they have vied with, what parts of the "about 40% done" project they have completed, plans to add next-gen graphics card and internet support, and more.

i just got my radeon 9700 pro in the mail... i tried out the doom 3 alpha after i installed my drivers, and it ran at around 50 fps in most places. this is with an athlon xp 1700+ with 256 mb of ram. with the same setup with my old geforce 2 ultra, i could run it at around 20 fps. this was an ALPHA though, which means that the performance can only get better.
