On PC Halo

There's some Halo: Combat Evolved for PC news on GameSpot with a status report on the PC version of the Xbox shooter. The article recounts the history of this project as a PC/Mac project that was assimilated into an Xbox project upcoming Microsoft's acquisition of Bungie, how Gearbox happened to become involved in the PC port, some of the technical hurdles they have vied with, what parts of the "about 40% done" project they have completed, plans to add next-gen graphics card and internet support, and more.

Unreal 2 is supposed to be out next month, right? How much later is Doom 3? And I found something on another site that said even a 9700 wouldnt be able to handle it. Is this true? I think these two games will make everyone forget about Halo... (provided we can run Doom 3)

It would be nice to have a developer who just develop for PC. ID has crossed over to consoles, and so has Epic, even Blizzard! I know its all about money, but christ people, when is enough enough! Yes, there are developers who just do PC, but one of them needs to step out and take charge, sit down and say "screw consoles, they're for kids". I look forward to the day when I can see "PC only" on a game box again.
