BF1942 Desert Combat

The first public alpha of the Desert Combat modification for Battlefield 1942 is now available (thanks Nuclear Days). Desert Combat is set in the modern day, and focuses on the various conflicts in the middle east over the last decade or so. This is the first of many planned alpha and beta releases, with the focus this time out being to test new vehicles being added for the Desert Storm campaign.

Good fun, definately worth the download. Still needs work on weapon and vehicle balance (the Shilka can easily kill infantry, armor and planes alike). Also the devs need to work on getting the AH-64 flyable. As it stands I try to turn the thing and wind up flipping in the air and crashing into the ground below. Even though it has some problems it's a whole lot of fun, I'm just patiently waiting for a GI Joe and Starcraft mod for BF1942.

I am impressed. I actually played better than the WWII default theme :).

BF has so much modding potential. can't wait for all the mods to come out. if only everybody had monster comps and internet connections.

nice. I just re-installed BF '42 because of the patch so I'll definitely check this out. A-10 Warthog baby!

Re patch: still notice a lot of choppiness & laggy behaviour in the regular game though not nearly as bad as version 1.0
