So its December 2008, the game is going swimmingly (CRS signed a deal with a Chinese company to host the game in China. CRS is flush with cash for the first time in years and the game shows it. Meanwhile, Blair's ballsack should have dropped by now and maybe he is dating girls by now (although with all the whining, it may be boys).

Actually, when someone make the statement bf1942 netcode is crap, they are talking about the bandwidth used, latency is not an issue, but its a bandwidth hog.

"If that sounds lame to you then fair enough, you are not into WWII stuff. Nothing wrong with that."

Stolly: Im plenty into WW2 stuff, thats the problem. Those of us that were die hard grognards were raped without a reach around and ripped off by what WW2 OL promised.

Its as simple as that. The game killed itself within a month. Hell I suffered through Hearts Of Iron PRE 1.02 so I know what its like to suffer.

In todays market, you have about 2 weeks to get the publics attention. Thats it. In those two weeks, you had better ante up, and BF 1942 did right out of the box is what I am saying.

Lets focus on this. Let me say ok, maybe the game is fun now to play. But I think the majority of people are simply pissed at the initial product and lack of players.

Luckily today Im in a good mood because it's Friday so I will not use the words fuckerass and dicksmacker in my post.

Oops.

Madrebel

"net code is crap, weapons are crap, graphics are good but who cares"

How can the net code be crap when I get 47 pings? Also I can nail someone just fine thanks with my gun, there is no lag. How can you talk about crappy net code when WW2OL is notorious for lag and 10 Frames Per Second video performance? They couldnt even support the new users they had on opening day.

I think you seem to have forgotten about alot sir, and its only better today because no one is playing it.

Oh and I really hate that fucking GameRankings site just let me say that. yeah thanks, I will take real reviews instead of Joe Schlock with a personal grudge rating the games down on purpose.

www.gamerankings.com, for the most part, only has release day reviews and rankings, to say it reflects the current status of the game at version 1.7 is just trolling. Release day was bad that is certain, but the game has legs and is getting better all the time. With WW2OL, there is a feeling of something larger going on, BF1942 is just fire and forget... (And flying with Mouse is just lame, and after about 15 secs of flying the game is screaming that you are trying to go AWOL since the map is so small... and user friendly??? even the saddest stand-up arcade uses a joystick that even 5 years olds can use, the mouse flying thing was just plain bad)

and ill ask again.

which game provides the better feeling of participating in a war?

bf1942 or ww2online?

i would like reasons for why you feel that way, not links to average reviews. reasons why YOU feel that way.

blair...the sims is also the best selling game of all time. does that make it a game i want to play?

bf1942 is a dumbed down game desigend to be easy enough for people like you who's attention spans are barely longer than a fruit fly.

bf1942s game play is just lame. planes are worthless. boats are even more worthless. i would rather not have boats then have useless ones.

net code is crap, weapons are crap, graphics are good but who cares, TKn seems to be sponsored by the devs. Its a game for hyper sugar rushed children who dont want to learn anything new, much like yourself.

ww2online has the ability to be alot better than it is and is IMO finally moving in the right direction at a decent rate.

p.s. black and white got great reviews too.....great game that black and white.

There is a difference between making an arcade game and a semi hardcore sim that tries to be realistic where possible.

Of course you do know that, you are just being the sad little troll again.

"bf1942 is a steaming pile of ass. any game that allows you to fly a plane with a mouse and do it well does not do justice to the greatest conflict of all time. "

LOL! Only a WW2OL players would criticize a developer fo making a game player friendly and for considering gameplay issues! Hahahaha. Funny how BF1942 has an average review score of 89 percent and is nominated for game of the year from many gaming publications.

"ww2online is far from perfect. but for what it is its better than anything else out there. bf1942 cant hold its jewel case."

What was WW2OL's average review score again? Oh yeah! 57%. HAHAHAHA.

To Lucifer. So what youre saying is essentially this.

bf1942, which maxes out at 32vs32, has a better feel for the world war 2 conflict than ww2online?

bf1942 is a steaming pile of ass. any game that allows you to fly a plane with a mouse and do it well does not do justice to the greatest conflict of all time.

ww2online is far from perfect. but for what it is its better than anything else out there. bf1942 cant hold its jewel case.

The event is the "Channel Dash" of 1942.

Don't know how much you know of WWII history but in 1942 2 German battlecruisers and a heavy cruiser dashed up the English Channel under the noses of the Royal Navy and RAF.

It was a heavy battle but they got through undamaged, one of the naval feats of WWII.

Its been recreated with attacking RAF fighters, bombers and torpedo bombers as well as motor gun boats. Germans are defending the "capital" ships with fighters and MGB's

This where WWIIOL comes into its own. It can be recreated with as many people involved in the fighting as was then. You could not do this on 64 player BF42 server. You could do it on a hundred seperate servers but saying "wow i sunk the Prinz Eugen" sounds better than "wow i sunk the Prinz Eugen on server number 56"

If that sounds lame to you then fair enough, you are not into WWII stuff. Nothing wrong with that.

"cancel the event on the 28th that they are holding"

whats that more free subscriptions?

Im sorry but a event in a online shooter sounds kinda lame. Its not like EQ where you can have some RPG aspects and new monsters or phat lewt going on.

".....destroyers and torpedoes. ......aircraft and tanks"

Already been done in BF 1942

Soon, we will be able to storm Monte Cassino itself. In a shorter time than it has taken WW2OL to actually "fix" itself.

The only corpse is the one of the dead horse you are beating Blair.

Oh no...hold on...the worst looking website in the world says that the game is dead. Must be true.

Quick let me email CRS at tell them not to release the new features that are coming out today and to cancel the event on the 28th that they are holding.

Tell the new people they have hired not to start work. Don't bother introducing player driven supply. Forget the destroyers and torpedoes. Scrap the new aircraft and tanks.

I agree on the inf. It got better in 1.6 with reload animations and the like, but its still not very good.

I understand that ambient sounds and shakes from explosions will be in from today onwards with 1.73 so thats a small step in the right direction in terms of immersion.

The inf models are being entirely replaced in the next few versions though, which is nice.

I couldn't be bothered to read the trolls slinging mud back and forth. Man you people have problems. Heiwa people, heiwa.

I've been playing this new free trial for a bit, and it's quite good. Infantry still really, really sucks, but otherwise it's a fun game. The graphics are functional if not amazing, and as a sim it's very good. The community around it is very strong both in and out of the game. There's quite an amount of coordination as well, with assaults etc. being planned and carried out. But really the game is hit or miss. You'll either pick it up and love it, or pick it up and loathe it. If you don't assume anything about it, and give it a go, you might find yourself enjoying it. I did.

Only time will tell, but if BF1942 was the be all end all of WW2 games there would be alot more than 4000 players at a time... 30,000+ playing Everquest. BTW, Lucifer i wasn't about to rummage for my BF1942 cd and wipe the dust off just to get an ingame server # count, i was just pointing out the relative inactivity of BF1942 versus other games on GameSpy.
