Playboy Game Unveiled

ARUSH Entertainment announces that production is underway on a game that sounds like it could be titled "Playboy Tycoon" (of course, you'll only play it for the articles). Here's the deal:
The first Playboy- branded game, which will be playable on multiple platforms including PC, Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox consoles, is targeted to be in stores in 2004.

The game, which is based on the world-builder simulation genre of video games, will allow players to walk in the slippers of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, establishing and building the Playboy empire and living the ultimate Playboy lifestyle.

It is just that Von Helmet was using an argument that we've all heard hundreds of times. I was trying to make light of the...

...we need tighter rules...

statement.

I mean we need more laws (rules) like I need a Penis on my forehead. It may seem like a good idea but in the end it would just cause things to be more f'd up than they already are.

Lets let the parents parent. Lets not judge a book (game) by its cover. Lets give it a chance. Then when it scores a 0/10. Let the bashing commence.

Von Helmet as we also need tighter rules to stop you from getting your hands on 12 year olds.

This just doesn't sound like intelligent conversation to me. You can argue a point without becoming personal, and you may come across as more adult without it.

Very interesting D-Dogg. Many A-List titles you have mentioned. Now I feel a little better about the probability of this project being solid.

Everyone see that he accepted the challenge. Lets hold him to it. When it comes out with the first few reviews I will post and if it scores an 80% or better (from a reputable review site/magazine) [Avault, Pc-Ign, etc] 4/5 8/10 etc. I WILL give you my 50$ for the game.

I am putting my money where my mouth is. Remember I am now saying all it has to do is score 80% or higher. Can you do it?

Challenge accepted. We are planning to make a good game and not a T&A festival. Since you haven't heard of us, here's a little info on the CEO and the company.

Jim Perkins, Founder, President, and CEO
Jim Perkins sold his entertainment software publishing company FormGen, a $20M entertainment software publisher with such huge hits as Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, and Doom, to GT Interactive Software in 1996. Mr. Perkins understands the fundamentals of publishing and has excelled at selecting the industry's top selling games for more than a decade. He has strong working relationships with the world's most experienced and successful traditional software game development studios.

ARUSH publishes PC and console video games for sale in retail outlets and on the Internet. It recently published Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project and will publish Devastation in 2003.

The whole thing is really. That as long as this game can have good gameplay, and not be crude; a little nudity would be a nice twist.

Kids and adults who can't handle it hopefully won't get their hands on it. Because age really doesn't matter. I know that some 15 year old men could handle this game more adult than some 35 yeard old kids. It is the parents decision to know their kids and decide whether or not they can play it. I don't know your kids so I won't be making it my business what your kids play. My kids are too young. I mean 5, he wouldn't get into it anyway. He likes to play Harry Potter, and Mario Sunshine.

I'll be reading reviews when blues has the links to them. If it wins game of the year or some other such award, I'll buy it. I only buy 3 or 4 computer games a year and don't want to waste my money on trash. So Arush, you'd better not produce some pile of crap. Or the Laffman will keep his 49.95, and you won't get it.

Since I've never heard of ARUSH, right now I'm gonna assume it will be about as good as deer hunter (crap). But since the rednecks only shop at wal-mart (or as they say it Wal-Marts) and wal-mart probably won't carry it. It won't sell very many copies.

Arush this is a challenge to you. Make a good game. I'd love to be wrong on this one.

I totally agree with the male objectification thing.

Men in porn are being objectified too, and that's kinda dumb. Though invariably the nature of porn means that the men featuring in it are objectifying the women i.e. Max Hardcore objctifies more than he is objectified, as you will know if you have any knowledge of his "artistic work".

The more general point is that sex sells and is used to sell anything and everything. Nudity and the like are used in advertising, which is a cheap shot really. It's just that current climate lends itself to women making a fuss about it more than men.

Kronix you totally missed my point. My point was to say sarcastically. That women are not objects men are not objects. The men who say that women are objects think they are better than a woman.

I was agreeing with you, totally on your original point. So when you call me an idiot and a child does that make you one too?

Nice point? So calling someone an idiot is a nice point? Geez.... Whilst I may not agree with someone, I certainly don't feel the need to resort to name calling. I see the point that Von Helmet is making, but I'll adopt a wait and see attitude with this game, not that I'd ever purchase it, but I highly doubt the selling point of this game is whatever abhorrent vice people think. It's just another franchise run amok, similar to what's happening to the Sims.

Nice point Kr0nix, If we are walking by an A&B store, or flipping through a magazine, or even watching a bo-flex commercial. The majority of us (males) don't raise hell about a half naked toned male, we turn away, simply laugh, or im some cases feel guilty about our bodies.

It is our biology that makes us excited to see a beatiful woman, I mean who can help the fact that a beatiful woman is a nice "THING" to look at. The whole point of our being on Earth is to reproduce, so why not use it to sell?

Kids don't need this kind of stuff growing up though. I'm sure they'll experience it one way or another being a child but a tycoon game of all games isnt going to turn them into a sick twisted individual. I'm sure this game will have little or pixelated nudity. Now If this was about Virtual Valerie 3 hitting the shelves well I think it would be worse.

On the part of the government raising our children. Well they control all they learn in school, all they watch on tv, and just about everything else they'll experience in their childhood. The US school system is extremely messed up but that's a different topic.

These are all my opinions so I could be wrong;)

The point I am trying to make is that some people have said/suggested on this forum that pornography makes women objects. The reverse should work, right?

I must thank you for putting the words in my mouth, but you are an idiot and a child at the same time.

Its very hyprocritical of the women to the world to cry out about their treatment as objects. In Sydney, there was an ad one or two years back that was advertising bear and showed a womens breast and all these womens right groups spoke out and tried to stop it. The other day, I noticed a billboard advertising a womens perfume with the image of a naked man. You didn't see anyone speaking out about that.

Go figure.

Choda Boy nice way to kiss the ass of Von Helmet I'm impressed really

Now you two have two things in common, you both don't like me and well. You know the other..........

Kronix.... ....it doesn't work that way. Men can't be objects for we are far superior to women. That is what gives us the right to call them objects silly.

I'm with you on that.

The whole issue of government vs. parent is interesting though. The sad thing is that nowadays more and more parents seem irresponsible, so someone is having to cover for them. I'm not in favour of 1984 style government that controls everything such that we actually *can't* do anything wrong, but I think the government does need some influence. Which is a shame really, as it would be nice if more parents could be trusted to look after their children well.

1) Larry is an idiot or a child.

2) Those that enjoy pornography or titillation do not nessisarily veiw woman as purely objects. All they are doing it for, is a sexual curiosity. I have a great respect for women, and I view them as equals (maybe even more in some cases). We are geneticly programed as male humans to be stimulated by observing sexuality. It is not unhealthy to satisfy that urge as long as all parties are concenting adults.

And, yes, I am behind you 100% about keeping it out of the hands of 12 year olds, because it can effect the sexual developement of children. But this should be the job of the parent. Having government raise our children by reducing our freedoms is also very dangerous as well. We should as a culture, know more about what they are doing and become more involved in their lives. Not regulate everything so that we live in a Fisher Price world.

I'm not saying that either. Women are sexual beings, natch. but they're not sexual beings that are there to be exploited and seen solely for sex, as pornography can imply.

Yeah, it gives you dangerous ideas that they might be sexual beings, and don't have to be sheltered prizes that you show off to coworkers and other ridiculous ideas that the Victorians' polluted our culture with.

I'm not saying people will attack strippers or women or whatever, just that porn and the like can and do alter people's opinions of women and so forth.

Forums are for arguing or discussion or whatever. If you don't like it, don't read them.
