Consolidation

Microsoft vows more cash for Xbox (thanks Mike Martinez) reports: "Microsoft on Wednesday said it would pour more resources into its efforts to carve out a position in the $10 billion video game market rather than cutting its losses and exiting from the venture." Also, turning back the clock, Gigex is offering downloads of a two level PC demo of Panzer Dragoon (originally for the Sega Saturn), to promote the release of Panzer Dragoon Orta for the Xbox. The file is mirrored on FileShack.com (registration required), Gamer's Hell, and Worthplaying.

You think that is where this is going? Microsoft is lossing money at a pretty fast rate on the XBox. It is doing very bad over seas (save for "down under") and it is not doing as well here as some people would have you think. Heck, there was the news here on Blues about the XBox has lost MS $177 million over the last 3 months. Now, if it is that unprofitable for them, I can't understand why they are still doing it. Is it becuase it is a very public product for them? It's not like MS Ultimate TV, which they cut loose becuase of it lossing money. Most people didn't even notice that one going away. But the XBox has had a much larger ad compain.
