The promised multiplayer stress test version of Impossible Creatures is now available exclusively on FilePlanet. In a semi-related note, there is a brief editorial about their inability to present this file on 3D Gamers.

Yakuza:

The EZ Pad software is DRM Software that stores a portion of the application on the EZ Pad servers. The problem you were reporting was because the EZ Pad servers were busted last night. See this link for more details:

Such hostility!

Why exactly do you think this game is a POS?

Ok well, after download and install, I recieve some crap about having to connect to the internet, even though I'm on a t1 line..and then it just gives me some "First Registration" crap, talking about helping me to recieve an "ez pad" interface.

what the FUCK?

Anyone else experiencing this bullshit? I'm gonna try a re-install..

i was hoping gameplay would be a little bit better than "meh", but the creature creation does seem neat. sorta like the island of dr. moroe

I had no problems getting it or installing (cable).
I've only played the tutorial and a brief match against the computer, but I'll give this quasi-review.

The graphics seem a little less than what I've come to expect in new games but they're not bad. To rotate the camera you have to hold alt and move the mouse and mousewheel zooms. I don't think you can remap those keys either (it said those controls were "locked"). Like most games with this feature there's no reason to zoom in, and having to hold down alt makes rotating a hassle. A right mouse button or keyboard keys would have been better.

The creature creation system is brilliant. You can only combine two animals but each body part has unique properties (speed, defense, offense, etc). You can choose which body part from each animal you want, resulting in thousands of possible combinations. The body parts are head, back (torso?), front legs, back legs, tail.

I found it was far too easy to collect electricity. I always had a huge surplus. Electricity and coal are the resources used. Lots of little things were annoying too but will probably be fixed in a patch. Setting waypoints from a building can't be done by right clicking. If you tell your guys to attack a group of enemies they'll run around trying to attack the specific creature you targetted (probably solved by attack moving..). I expected more micromanagement too, something similar to WC3 maybe. It's more of a mass produce and rush game. There are a few special abilities though, like the eel's electric shock sphere thing (which damages your units too).

Uh..I'll stop writing now. Creature creation is awesome. Gameplay is "meh". Mind you I haven't tried the solo campaign or a multiplayer game yet.

One additional suggestion is to stay in tune with Rise of Nations... that will be a killer RTS.

I played at least 10 matches against the computer (online play was broken when I tried.. noone could join a server, connection would timeout).

My honest review is that this game seems lacking... it's kinda neat to mix/match animals, but other than that it's kinda boring

I see this game getting some pretty negative reviews (except from MS fanboys of course) and even though there are MANY possibilites for creatures, I think you will see a dominant crop show up real quick.

I downloaded it with no wait time and at 400k/sex from FilePlanet (which was a first!)

But when I try to play it, it gives me a prompt telling me that the game is going to connect to the internet, I hit "Yes" and then nothing happens.

Anyone else get this funkyness?

edit: cable connection

I've tryed it with netscape and IE... pretty much every version.

Old fileplanet still seems to work well (The direct links) and i've never had to wait more then 4 mins in line. I still don't understand why people complain about waiting when it's free and it's less then 5 mins. That's nothing in todays world.

I'd rather be sucking down files at 2k/sec than have to

What browser are you using? I have that problem often also (I'm on Opera). Sometimes I can get it, though.

Fileplanet used to be the place to go for files, now I'll go anywhere but.

Ever since gamespy and fileplanet went together I have NOT been able to log into fileplanet with my account. So I ask why the heck is fileplanet the only place that I am able to get these exclusive demos If i'm not able to even get into their system. It's a great error... just keeps kicking me back to the login screen even after putting in the correct password and user name. I guess some of us will just have to wait and use those overseas sites once they get it.
