Out of the Blue

Well my experience as the tile-meister in the kitchen has met with mixed results. The mix is mostly good, as the replaced grout and tiles look as good as new, but I also managed to raise a cloud of grout dust worthy of, well, something really dusty (my gift for metaphor fails me at the moment). What's worse, I failed to think of closing the doors to the kitchen as I worked, so there is a thin layer of dust covering everything in the house. I had a filter to breathe through, but I think I would have been better off with SCUBA gear, because the whole procedure has left me feeling a bit sick... but hey, did I mention how good the kitchen looks? Cough.

small angle grinder (or dremel if you were conned by one) and get your wife to hold the vacuum cleaner nozzle where you are grinding out the old stuff. worked for me.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Its got an awful music to come with it..I wish those ad-folks would understand that that AD alone may prevent me from seeing the movie/buying the game/whatever. I sometimes wonder what goes on inside their head... "Hey maybe if we add this REALLY annoying music, do you think they will buy our product?"

PS
ed: the ad is on bluesnews.com by the way, its a horizontal banner..

I always dig Blue/2's logo's, but I need to correct Blue. It's Stern, not Atari.

I've noticed the quality of the links lately have been lacking that special something that used put a spring in my click. I know it's hard to be consistently on, but the steady decline in interesting internet sites have really taken a toll on the links section. Blue's still the man when it comes to news though. Keep fighting the good fight.

"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day; to the last syllable of recorded time; and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow; a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

The maths was wrong, and not apparently by much. This happens. common sense on the other hand is often spectacularly wrong, like people who wish to drive their cars rather than be in the hands of software or public transport, because its safer .

I had a filter to breath through

Isn't that supposed to be spelled breathe ?

(Amazed that I'm the first one to catch this, or maybe the first one who's anal enough to point it out ...)

I can only imagine how Hudson the Wonder Dog reacted to all this tool-work. How much of the dust is on the dog?

You are correct that she is not wild for this project. She's not too dusty, though, because the racket, combined with the cooler weather (this dog runs warm) has motivated her to spend a lot of time in the backyard.

This person was a student at Oxford. For anyone that doesn't know, Oxford is a world-renowned university in England... One of the best on the planet, and the Oxford Stunt Factory (a group he was a member of) designed and co-ordinated the bungee jump for Goldeneye. This was an intelligent person.
Still, you know what they say about common sense... It ain't so common.

Man, I feel your pain. I have been using my trusty Wizard(B&D Dremel) to fix the tile in my shower. I'm on the second $10 bit so far. I bought a shopvac to suck up all the old grout and caulking and thought it was pretty 1337, stuff was disappearing fast. Then I realized I was missing the sold-separately dust filter bag for the regular filter and after the minute it took to clean up the junk, my bathroom and bedroom were filled with a fog of grout dust! Sweet particle effects that even affected the lighting properly with no dropped frames! All I could do was open the windows and blow a fan out of one... Man, what a mess! I won't even mention the white grode bugers... New grout tonight, test spots have come out looking good so far! Ain't home ownership a kick in the ass!? :-\
