BF1942 Add-on?

The EBGames.com Website (thanks GameSpyDaily) has details on an unannounced multiplayer add-on for Battlefield 1942 titled "The Road to Rome" that's apparently in the works. Here's a bit from the EB listing, which also includes a batch of 20 screenshots (though the images seem to be broken at the moment):
Though multiplayer experience will be the focus of The Road To Rome, there will be a mode of unique single player action. These levels feature improved artificial intelligence with no scripting, meaning players will get a completely different experience each time.

  • Six new maps from the Sicilian and Italian campaigns including Operation Husky (Sicily), and the battles for Anzio and Monte Cassino.
  • Eight new vehicles including the German BF-110 and British Mosquito fighter bombers.
  • Two new fighting forces including the French legionnaires and Italian forces.
  • Three new hand-held weapons including a rifle grenade launcher, the British Sten SMG and bayonets.
  • Proprietary Refractor 2 engine raises bar for graphics and 3D rendering.
  • Huge multiplayer component supporting up to 64 players that requires teamwork and cooperation from each member in order to achieve victory for the Axis or Allies.
  • Unique single player mode features no scripting, meaning the player gets different experience each time they play.

I'm in full agreement with all those who are crying for improving the original game. It seems quite premature to even talk about an addon when so many people are crying over some very real and substantial flaws in this game.
For those of you that have mentioned emptying a clip into someone point blank and not landing a single shell, I feel your pain. Its got to be one of the most frustrating aspects of the game. Also, does anyone else have a problem using the mousewheel to select weapons? Not only does mine skip weapons, but when I do select a weapon, sometimes it will appear as if Ive changed weapons, but then it will delay 4 or 5 SECONDS before it actually lets me USE THE THING!!! Then lets mention the slower than molasses game browser that often times will register your single click attempt to refresh as a double click attempt to enter game. Then you've got to wait another 20 seconds to cancel the loading process and get back to the game browser...:(

As for the single player, forget the bots and the single player. This game was clearly designed for online play, period. The fact that they claim to have a single player game is just the marketing department's way of getting the Single Player folks to go in for this. Most hardcore gamers do their homework anyway and few were surprised or even cared about the quality of the Single Player game.

Here's the kicker. Despite my frustration with these things, I still find myself playing this game 2-3 hours a night. Im on a DSL and have what could be considered an average or below average system for the times (PIII 800, GeForce 64MB DDR, 256MB RAM). For me and a ton of other people the good clearly outweighs the bad, but its the bad that tends to stick with you. If anyone from DIce or EA are reading this, I think the message on this board is clear - we'd rather have a game that works than more of a game that doesnt.

And finally, I think we should all remember that a lot of good, honest, and innocent people died fighting to preserve freedom aduring WWII -- this includes Americans, Brits, French, Russians, Italians, Austrians, Poles, Czechs, Canadians, Flemish, Swiss, Danes, okay do I need to go on here? We love to rip on the French but lets not forget the French resistance...they knew they were outnumbered but they fought anyway..That took guts.

WE'VE GOT EM ON THE RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
