There are not a lot of frenchmen reading this board. So I am and if the white flag comment made me laugh, theses kinds of belief are not historically accurate. The french army during WW2 was not a ridiculous force, it had many brave soldiers who fought till death to defend their country. During the german invasion, the army was not prepared to fight such a war machine and leaded by a bunch of WW1 old stupids commanders. But many forces stayed in the colony, fought the allied side, and gained many respects. I agree nowadays, France is a little country with east countries internal policies, and switzerland-like external policies. But I believe US should not forget that they won WW2 not only by their own forces, but by a common effort from countries such as England, Canada, Australia, USSR (circumstance ally) and others I don't have in mind. Free French Army and the Resistance played also an important role for the final victory (or the saving of american lives, if you prefer). Please don't forget that.
