Out of the Blue

I'm recovering from another gastronomic misadventure, done in last night by the lure of the jalapeno popper. I'm trying to blame MrsBlue for this one for urging me to eat the last one on the plate, which I'm trying to claim was the one that put me over the top (as well as into the bathroom), rather than the 20-or-so that preceded it, but that's probably not putting the blame where it belongs. Moments like these make me realize what a Homer Simpson I am: 'But Marge, they're so filled with peppery, cheesy goodness!'

Pretty funny that "2" decided on a Mafia logo after the best Sopranos episode of the season, huh? Smooooth. :)

Finally, hats off to those who have served their countries, as today, the 84th anniversary of the end of World War I, is Veteran's Day here in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in the U.K. and Canada.

Play Time: Table Tennis (Shockwave required). Thanks Cold Fusion.

It was Remembrance Day here in Australia as well ... What constitutes a holiday (day off) is strange down here too, we have a day off for the Queens Birthday (and it's not even on her birthday) but not for Remembrance Day .. Where's the logic in that?

I love the names of some of those hot sauces out there, "Fear Itself" (friend of mine owns that one), "Ass in Tub", "Death Warmed Over", etc.
We're thinking about creating a hot sauce ourselves, "Me Fookin' Arse!" hot sauce.

However, I would like to double the comments about Mafia and toss in a w00t while I am at it.

Thanks for the heads up Blue et al. I had decided last week was going to be the last Sopranos I wasted my time on, but there has been a buzz about this episode here and on the radio, so I'll have to tune in tomorrow (Tuesday nights in Canada)

I've never watched the show (don't have HBO), but saw this relevant article in the EW section of CNN.com and thought I'd comment here.

http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/TV/11/11/ew.tv.sopranos/index.html

From what I've read here in OotB, the show hasn't been doing well in terms of viewer satisfaction, but now that there has been an episode of violence (aka someone got "whacked" - though I prefer the term "beskulled" in this instance), its getting better ratings. I guess some of us like our television shows the way some of us also like our video games. The more blood & gore, the better the game.

I really don't know whats going on with this show. The episodes are alright, but theres 0 closure on anything. It's always open-ended closure, which to me, is giving your audience too much credit. Granted, it's nice to realize what the storyteller is doing - it still misses that 'visual recognition' that helped make previous episodes of the show so much stronger. Tony leaves cool exclamation points.:>

One of my other beefs, and last night's episode is definitly an exception, is that the storylines are just so stupid, and too many. The first season was small. You cared about EVERY character. There wasn't a ton going on for storylines, and it always felt hovered around a few characters.

Now I love the character Pauly, he's great... But to me, doing ANY stories about him - unless the episode is focused around him (i.e. the episode where him and chris got stuck out in the snow..haha, that one ruled), or it's something involving a main character, he shoudln't be in it - period. Last week's thing with his mom was entertaining and neat for his character, however, he's NOT a major character, just a supplemental one. So, my point is, whoever is making episodes keeps forgetting what made the show great - and last night got back to what made the show great... And thats sticking with the MAJOR characters and keeping the story simple.

Now, if they'd just write janice off the show....

I'm funny, you see. I do things that contradict the point I'm making to make it clear that I am just kidding around. Now I realize that you were being funny in pointing out my capitilizations to try to make a mockery of my mockery of myself. Huh?
