Downloads Page now offers the version 1.7 patch for the
massively multiplayer game of World War II combat. This
post to the WWII Online Forums by producer Chris "Mo" Sherland
features details on what's new and different in the new version, which includes
hardware T&L support as well as gameplay tweaks, additions, and fixes.
"The infrantry game is crippled. Tanks can snipe you from miles away, yet any device such as binoculars, that may be historically innacurate, could add a lot to the game."
Infantry has binoculars now, at least Captain rank and above. And you are right it does add alot to the game.
I am interested to know why you are not getting a performance boost from the new patch, steve. I am now getting about 45-60 FPS outside of a town and about 30-45 in town and heavy combat. It is a HUGE increase for me over 1.6.
In one part of your post you gripe about there being no one to fight and then proceed to gripe about the 64 player limit. If there was no one around where you were at, then the 64 player limit wouldnt have come into play.
