An update called No One Lives Forever 2 - System may hang during gameplay
on the ATI tech support website offers a fix for a problem some users are
experiencing trying to play No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way
using one of their RADEON 8500 series products. They have posted new drivers for
WinXP/2K and Win98/ME, noting that these drivers include ATI Advanced Control
Panels and language support for English, French and German, but are not

What kind of CD/DVD ROM do you have? I've encountered the same problem until I found out that I needed to update the firmware for my DVD-ROM drive which happens to be a Samsung 16x DVD-ROM. After I've updated the firmware, bingo all of sudden my NOLF2 discs were detected and I was able to install the program flawlessly.
