DOOM III Q&A

There's a DOOM III Q&A on Gaming Invasion talking with Tim Willits, the lead designer on id Software's upcoming DOOM III (unless I miss my guess, this was conducted waaay back at QuakeCon). They discuss his inspirations in pursuing a career in game design, working with John Carmack, how DOOM III is coming along, challenges the game has presented, the most impressive feature of their new engine, multiplayer support, mod support, supporting lower-end hardware, weapons, per-poly collision detection, and more.

it would NOT be that difficult. so what if encounters are scripted and triggered, just trigger them like normal, the players can easily stick together and experience them together, and if they miss an encounter big deal. it will never be as immersive as the single player but dont try to justify the lack of a feature as being too difficult. Multiplayer is there (weak one by the sound of it) a great single player is there, it would only make sense to support coop, especially since its one of the core features of DOOM itself.
