On UT2K3 Lock-ups & Patch Plans

The Unreal Technology Website has word on a short FAQ they've posted with suggested solutions on what to try if you are experiencing random-lock ups in Unreal Tournament 2003. Also, a post to the Infogrames, Inc. Forums by James Schmalz (thanks Unreality) describes what's in the works for the next UT2003 patch, including IRC chat in the in-game server browser and enhanced key-binding support, along with accompanying screenshots showing off the new features.

Devster, I'm using a Logitech dualop mouse with four buttons: the two regulars, a wheel, and a side button. If I remember correctly I didn't have any problem binding the 4th (side) button to alternate fire (for example). But I think the way I did it was the old Quake3/Tribes2 standby, by binding it to another key outside of the game and then binding that key to the function you want. In my case, the 4th button is bound to F5 in Windows, so when I pressed it in UT2k3 it bound F5 (and thus the 4th button) to that action.

I know it's not really what you're asking, but it works.

(EDIT-) And to Ratzo– It's not a total loss, as you seem to think. I (for one) haven't had any lockups or issues with the game. Although it's similar to T2... So many people seemed to enjoy hopping on the "it sucks!" bandwagon without ever trying it, simply because they heard that "everyone" was having problems with it. But back to UT2k3... I've gone through the SP portion and have played a fair amount of MP. Zero crashes, zero freezes. Hell I even have the Evil Trio(tm): an AMD Thunderbird, a VIA board, and an SB Live! soundcard, and the game runs well for the hardware that I have.
