Out of the Blue

Given that the wait for season four to start continues in some areas, I certainly won't touch on specifics, but to follow-up on the lengthy wait for the new season of The Sopranos, the premiere was certainly worth it (episodes written by David Chase rarely disappoint). The late and good versus rushed and bad syndrome has many analogies to our gaming community, which I won't belabor either, but as a wise man once said, something's only delayed while it's unreleased, but if it sucks, it sucks forever. Conversely, when something is great, it's worth the wait (and of course, if the glove don't fit...).

I believe they are referring to the Ray Harryhausen that is famous (?) for the older creature/mythology movies that utilized stop-motion and clay animation (or the likes) for various effects. This covers movies such as Sinbad, Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts, etc.

Finding the song rather humorous :D,

I don't know how many of you have used this but..

This (free) program has been pretty good about stopping pop-up adds......and there is something satisfying about hearing the angry beep and knowing that there is an annoying add out there that you don't have to deal with.

Ugh! Talk about ugly booth babes... I might purchase the costume just to make sure it is burned, and no wretched memories are drudged up by anyone who encountered those hideous monsters.

That's not a booth babe! it's a man baby! yeah!

or some shit.

I don't think that it is anything new. When posting comments, it is not uncommon to get the generic "This page is not available" message, even when refreshing a few times, and it can frequently take a good thirty seconds or so for a post to go through.

Still not sure what made it go crazy for that short period last week,
Ray

Lately I've been experiencing some problems with the script-driven portions of the site, with page load failures and timeouts. I'd like to know if anyone else has been noticing this or whether it's time for my bi-annual rousting on my ISP.

(EDIT: It took me three retries to post this)

Actually, with Mozilla, you can selectively allow popups that you request to open (i.e. popups that you click on). I gotta say, between Mozilla and Opera, I'm not using IE except at work.

Sure is! At least in Opera, you can close the pop-ups (after forcing them to pop-under) by right clicking on them in the tab-window list, without ever looking at them, and continuing to read whatever page you're on.

Hmm...perhaps I can interest you in some nice http://www.popunder.com/ adverstisements, Devster?

ummm, no thanks, I'm sure you know how much I appreciate the offer, however. I've been using "pow!" from analog-x; works great, see a new pop-up maybe once or twice a week. But still dislike 'em. Mozilla is good for pop-up deaths, I agree, I just find pow! faster (for me) to turn off when I actually DO want to see a particular popup - that someone should've integrated better into my browsing experience...

Since I started using Mozilla full-time a few months ago, I've forgotten what a pop-up is.

Don't give blue any bad ideas, Ray; popups = evil. Noise I can deal with - use mute button (doesn't everyone's keyboard have sound controls now?), or toggle the "play sounds" preference for one's browser. The only way popups would be ok would be if we knew blue was making some cash off 'em.

The only good pop-up is a closed pop-up.

I am not sure what your stance is on the subject, but I would certainly take quiet pop-up adverstisements over ones that make noise. I find those ones a bit more unexpected, generally much harder to deal with, and much more inconvenient in the general workplace.

Guessing it is slightly better than a pop-up that makes noise :D,
Ray

Edit: It looks like I need quite some help typing quiet.
