Out of the Blue

Well I didn't imagine that writing about my Norton AntiVirus pop-up window problem yesterday was going to accomplish anything more than venting usually does, especially since what I was experiencing was actually a true bug that had yet to be debugged, but it indeed turned out to be what was needed to solve the problem. My thanks go out to Ant, who passed along a screenshot of my error message directly to his buds in NAV tech support, where it turns out they were aware of this bug, but not its cause (until now). Seems the version of NAV I'm using fails to shut down its auto-protect mode while mail is being collected, so before the program was able to silently fix or quarantine an infected mail or attachment, auto-protect would spot it as soon as it hit the temp directory and trigger an alarm. They hadn't yet figured out what the cause of this was until seeing my screenshot, and now that it has been identified, this behavior will be corrected in a future patch, and in the meantime, I have a workaround that thankfully stops the constant barrage of alert boxes. All in all a pretty serendipitous and happy ending to my problem.

i havent listened to any nin before, but that sounds very synthysized and doesnt sound like any band would create something that horrible :p

the system of a down one are the actual guys, the vocals sound exactly like the lead singer...

Both the NIN and System of a Down versions of Zelda are fake. Someone even asked the band themselves on Loveline. I forget who it was done by though..

I'd be willing to say this live version and the SotD fake are the same band.

Zelda is probbly one of my favorite games ever made on the console, besides metroid. I remeber soaking hours away on zelda trying to beat it on weekends. Ahh what a great game...on top of that...what happened to all the good games? It seems to be more about eye candy then quality anymore.

Has the lag in Battlefield 1942 been fixed at all? I really liked the game, and was wondering if it had been fixed. I still hear about people aiming and firing but not hitting the person. Just wondering if this has been fixed or not before I decide to buy.

That mp3 has been floating around for years...I'm pretty sure (as a collector of bootleg nin stuff) that there's about a .0001% chance that's actually legit.

If you want a legitimate nin mp3 that'll make you laugh your ass off, look for the version of "down in it" from his original studio demo (aka the "Purest Feeling" album). I swear he sounds like Vanilla Ice on that version...

I was in the middle of posting the same thing, Rudy. It must have been a very special NIN concert if they played the Zelda theme and only like 10 people were allowed in. I did a short search and the only reference I could find to this song was in people's mp3 playlists--nothing on any NIN sites.

Here's the Napster rule of thumb for labeling mp3's without the artists in the id3 tag or the filename:
1) If it's got heavy metal guitars, it must be Metallica (or Nine Inch Nails, apparently).
2) If the song is funny, it must be Weird Al, or perhaps Ween (no, they didn't do that Gin and Juice cover).

Anyway, could someone provide verification that this song is what it says it is for us skeptics?

That zelda sound is great- somebody has to redo that - i'd love to hear a few remixes of the track by people like the aphex twin, luke vibert, etc... that would be amazing.
