Blizzard's Next Announcement [Sep 09, 2002, 8:55 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Blizzard Entertainment sends word that their next product announcement will take
place Friday, September 20 during this year's Tokyo Game Show. There are no
further details about the planned announcement other that it will involve
back-to-back press conferences, but this should provide fuel for some
interesting speculation, since the TGS is primarily focused on console games,
though Blizzard has shown off PC offerings at the show in the past.
Yeah, let's bash Blizzard! One of the few companies to consistently release quality, polished titles. IMO Blizzard is one of the top 3 in the business. Not because of how much they sell, because the games they make truly are timeless.
Even if you don't like WarCraft 3 (I for one played the beta since day 1, and still even play it on a semi-daily basis after retail), I bet everyone here wasted much time on Diablo, or StarCraft. Oh, but excuse me, it's 'cool' to bash good companies nowadays, because you might not like 1 of their releases. I don't care if defending Blizzard makes me a fanboy. I'd rather be a Blizzard fanboy than a Westwood, Ubi, or EA fanboy.
Well with that said, I for one am hoping it's a new universe. Blizzard North hasn't done anything since the Diablo 2 expansion, so they've had almost 2 years to brush up on their 3D and get something started. It could also be a WarCraft 3 expansion, but I don't think that team would start it so soon after release, especially since the game is in need of an initial balance patch.
Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be a surprise.
