Man oh man, what's with the 60hz thing. I know that I hate being at 60 on desktops myself, I'm at 85 at 1600*1200 right now. Even at work when the newsroom got real computers, the techs left all of them at 60!!!. And these people are editors and reporters that read text on white backgrounds all day. Although when I ask them how can they stand it, they can't see it, only the young. I can see it plenty, but in a game, I don't notice it at all, I never noticed it. The only time I do notice is on the splash loading screen and game menu, but it's never strong enough during actual gameplay to make me freak. I'd have to stop playing and just look at the screen (blocking the game out of my mind) until I notice something. Or basically, if I wasn't told, I wouldn't of noticed.
I swear, to say you won't play it because of this is stupid. Although some people could be more sensitive than others. It's just that I can instantly tell if a pc is at 60, but in a game, I don't even notice.
Just don't worry so much, it's like all the people complaining about polygons in Doom III, to say that the game sucks because of it is also plain stupid.
5000+ people are in the servers right now, so it doesn't look like the 60hz thing isn't that big of a problem. I'm trying to rack up my thoughts here. Basically, if your eyes are too damned sensitive, don't make it sound unplayable for others. Most the time I would guess it would give people eye strain, but the cause is invisible to most people.
Now that I think of it, I played at least 8 hours straight or more on Saturday, and I got the worst headache by the end of the day, pounding all over.
That's about it, but I'm not saying most of you are not justified by what you are saying, it just seems like an overreaction.
I just think it's silly. Just play the darn thing, but still speak your voice, but not ranting unplayable.
Those are my random thoughts, don't take it too seriously. I wonder what kind of a reaction this post will have?
I did try setting resolutions 1152 and higher for 85, and everything else 60, so the menu could load. I hoped the game would then work after it got passed that point. But in the video options, the resolutions that I set for 85 were no longer there. I guess when all of them were set to 85, the game had no choice but to collapse back to the desktop.
