Halo Ports Update [Jul 12, 2002, 12:22 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments

Game Studios Announces the Development of "Halo: Combat Evolved" for
the PC and Mac is a press release with the long-awaited official update on
the status of the PC and Macintosh ports of Halo, Bungie's science fiction
shooter. Turns out the game is going from Xbox to Gearbox, as Gearbox Software
is doing the PC port, which is due Summer 2003. The Mac port is being developed
by Westlake Interactive, and is also due sometime in 2003. A skeptic might think
some hints at this had previously been revealed to the folks at MacGamer, where
they have instantaneously posted a two page article called Halo:
I Told You So graciously providing a little face-rubbing to those who said
such a port would never come. The article has quotes from Westlake Interactive
that indicate that they are shooting for a simultaneous release with the PC
version.
"#46 -- No good games? You obviously don't have an XBox and haven't read enough to realize there are a ton of good games. Based on reviewer ratings, there have been more top-notch "quality" games released on the XBox than the PS2 or GC since November. Do the research yourself on that PC of yours you love so much."
I like Jet Set Radio Future, Gunvalkyrie, and Halo, but those are the only X-Box-exclusives that I own because they are the only X-Box-exclusives have any imagination to them. The rest of the library is solid-but-nothing-special and/or can be played on other platforms (Morrowind, Silent Hill 2, EA Sports' games, Tony Hawk, Max Payne).
