Halo Ports Update [Jul 12, 2002, 12:22 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments

Game Studios Announces the Development of "Halo: Combat Evolved" for
the PC and Mac is a press release with the long-awaited official update on
the status of the PC and Macintosh ports of Halo, Bungie's science fiction
shooter. Turns out the game is going from Xbox to Gearbox, as Gearbox Software
is doing the PC port, which is due Summer 2003. The Mac port is being developed
by Westlake Interactive, and is also due sometime in 2003. A skeptic might think
some hints at this had previously been revealed to the folks at MacGamer, where
they have instantaneously posted a two page article called Halo:
I Told You So graciously providing a little face-rubbing to those who said
such a port would never come. The article has quotes from Westlake Interactive
that indicate that they are shooting for a simultaneous release with the PC
version.
MAC Gaming beating the PC Gaming market? I don't think it is possible at this time.
As for Halo, I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks like some of the ranting idiots on the msg board. But I for one am excited about it. I for one play Halo constantly with one of my friends using legendary skill. When I have a few people round we play Halo Multiplayer with our own custom mode named "Green Man" (involves smoking of certain substances...lol. It is fun as hell though.
The PC version is going to unlock all the mutliplayer potential from Halo and it will be worth the wait. MODs, 32 player CTF and beyond. Did you also notice they mentioned "Fighting battles on foot, vehicles and in the air." That means we can FINALLY use banshees and maybe other vehicles. They didn't say it was a PORT remember. They say it was based loosely on the X-Box version.
Bring it on, I can't wait.
