Neverwinter Nights Patch

BioWare has released a new patch for Neverwinter Nights, bringing this 3D role-playing game to version 1.20. As usual, the 3 MB auto-update is the recommended method to upgrade but a manual 33.2 MB patch is also available, and the single change in this release is "Added code to prevent non-NWN files from corrupting modules in the Toolset," so it is multiplayer compatible with version 1.19. Update: The dedicated Linux server has now been updated to version 1.20 as well.

Everyone patches and then I can't play multiplayer since I can't patch until a fixed .exe shows up on gamecopyworld.

It's a toolset-only patch; it doesn't affect the client. 1.20 is multiplayer-compatible with 1.19.

No, not just to fix code, but also to change content. The patch is smaller if you use the updater in the game...

"Note: We strongly recommend that you use the automatic 'Update' program from the Neverwinter Nights game launcher to patch - it will be an easier, smaller, and faster way of updating your game."

How far away is the day where this becomes a method of copy protection? Maybe once broadband becomes commonplace.

Yeah, well... don't expect any sympathy here, buddy. You deserve all the headaches you get when you refuse to support developers.

Totally. I wish I'd never bought any game, because they all got boring eventually. Hell, maybe if we keep stealing games instead of buying them, they'll stop making games alltogether! That'll show 'em!

Yeah! No more video games! Rockin!

Well I dont think those people who bought NWN are fools, but it is a pretty stupid game. But its selling well, so some people must like D&D cheese and linear gameplay.

At least read a review or two (or play the game) before you comment. You're right about the D&D cheese, but completely wrong about the "linear gameplay". NWN is extremely nonlinear.

Lighten up, folks! Not everyone uses Gamecopyworld to pirate. Lots of people use it to get an .exe that eliminates annoying disk checks and "cd-in-drive" requirements.

I buy *all* my games. Truth be told, I buy way too many games. (My wife doesn't read this site so I'm safe admitting it here.) But I absolutely LOATHE disk swapping to switch from game to game, long load-up times, and/or constant disk checking. So, Gamecopyworld is an amazing convenience for me.

Anyway, on topic: I'm glad that the patch is smaller using hte autoupdater but HOW MUCH smaller? Does anyone happen to know?

I'm on dial-up (for the moment) and 33MB is agonizing. Even 5MB is painful.

First: The manual patch is so large because it contains ALL of the updates thus far... it's not just a patch from 1.19 to 1.20. Second, I think the single player module they released is very good. But that isn't even the point of the game. That is just extra icing. This game is about creating and playing multiplayer modules. This game must be judged by it's nearly INFINITE potential, rather than the bonus single player module they included as a good example.
