Neverwinter Nights Patch

BioWare has released a new patch for Neverwinter Nights, bringing this 3D role-playing game to version 1.20. As usual, the 3 MB auto-update is the recommended method to upgrade but a manual 33.2 MB patch is also available, and the single change in this release is "Added code to prevent non-NWN files from corrupting modules in the Toolset," so it is multiplayer compatible with version 1.19. Update: The dedicated Linux server has now been updated to version 1.20 as well.

Oh thats a wonderful idea. Of all the hundreds of posts of people who say they downloaded NWN, you want BioWare to hack into all of their computers and erase the game. That soooo simple! Why didn't I ever think about that? And they wouldn't get in any trouble because that is completely legal(or is it...). But then neither is downloading games you haven't paid for. More importantly...do you think they got the address of that guy who wanted to nuke Canada? He was probaly joking and actually loved Canada alot. Canada provides the world with moose.

Ok this may sound kind of obvious, or stuipd depending on the person. But You have noticed that it post parts of your IP with the message right. Well, in my experience with web forums, most of them do log you full IP, as well as the Log file on the server. So if the Guys here at Blue's News were real gentel men, then they would get those IP's and forward them onto the developers of NWN. Or just post them here to let everyone, have a try at their computer. You know, maybe hack it and delete NWN or something. Or just contact their ISP and inform them, casue most ISP will cancel accounts for people that pirate software, while using their service.

Just my $.02

Those who would champion developers' rights by spouting simple moral truths demonstrate precisely the reason why piracy will continue undeterred. No amount of priestly admonishment could ever stop a band of experienced, thrill-happy bandits from plundering on the high seas, or in the old west. What makes them think it will be any different in this new frontier?

The only way anyone ever stopped a pirate was by arming himself. Not by waving flowers in his face.

Grow up people. It's time you had a drink.

" Canada is full of homosexuality."

Just last week Ontario made gay marriages legal. It is still not legal in every other province.

I like Canada, wouldnt mind living there personally. It must be an american-canadian thing.

As for copy protection my TEAC drive doesnt "see" CD 1 but sees the play disc fine. It was a sod to install (borrowed another drive) but I dont use a NOCD on it yet.

revolve around piracy..
Janis Ian has written IMHO a very good article on music 'piracy' on the Internet.

#79, shouldn't you be in school with your fellow trolls, learning proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization? By the way, the average Canadian is pretty mellow and not as arrogant, bitchy, or uneducated as you.

If you're going to troll, please don't hide behind your anonymous messages. That's the cowardly way.

Hey I have an idea. Lets nuke the shit out of canada. that way, without any canadians left they won't be able to bitch on the forums about how games cost ten dollars more there. Canada is stupid, just face it. No one likes Canada or Canadians. Your the laughing stock of the world. Please, my Canadian friends, commit mass suicide. its better that way.
(I fully understand that there is no talk about Canadians or Canada going on right now but I choose to vent here because all I seem to read about in the forums is Canadian pricks crying about more expensive games. Move to a real country, faggits). Thankyou

So Americans care about some simple small game and don't care about killing people all over this planet?

Who told you I was an American? I don't remember saying that, jackass. I may live in America, but just for the record, I'm not an American.

But yeah you're right! I care more about the immediate need to put food on my table than about madmen slaughtering eachother at the other end of the world. I wish they had more sense, but they don't. So what can I do? Send an army over to help protect civilians and encourage them to make peace? Oh yeah!! I forgot. We already do that!

"So Americans care about some simple small game and don't care about killing people all over this planet?"

Yet again, we hit page four and the off-topic country-bashing starts. Shut up and go away troll.

As to music and games being sold over the net, music might, but games? High quality games? Takes money to make games, a few million dollars, usually. Unless you're an experienced developer, you're going to need a producer fronting the money- and besides, then you don't need to worry about advertising costs, packaging, product delivery, etc, since the producer pays and takes care of that (assuming they want the product they've got a vested interest in to sell.)

I rarely buy a game before playing the full version, ever since I got cheated by some golden demo's
I'm struggling to understand this. Are you saying you got a product that wasn't a full product but a rip-off or some such. If so then you should take the copy back. If you are saying that you won't play a game without experiencing it then refuse to buy games that don't have demos.

Software piracy is theft. In my book theft is wrong.

Anvil

I think what he was trying to say is that the demo's of some game looked extremely good while the full version of the same game sucked.

But if you are like those other preachy people, you should realise that now according to USA law you should go to jail because of what you are doing.

Shit, it's incredile, we can talk about cars, weather, games, whatever and it always ends up to "Americans kill peoples around the world"'s bullshit. Can you guys stick to games and stop whining about politic.

Bye! Neverwinter is very good by the way! (you remember, the game...yeah the thing we should be talking about)
