Out of the Blue

What a disappointment, I was actually able to finish that jawbreaker I mentioned yesterday, making it a one-day gobstopper, far indeed from everlasting. A reader named Mat made a post to our forums pointing the way to a 1/3-lb Jumbo Jawbreaker if you want to experience the questionable joys of candy too large to fit in your mouth for yourself, but as my experience proves, there's a wide range of possible outcomes to working on one of these guys, though the ad does promise "This one will keep you busy for AWHILE."

We're still in mail hell, so let me repeat that the best bet for reaching us for the time being is to use our temporary bluesnews@abydos.com email address.

Kinda sad ifu read this guy's BIO on his Dolemite page. It says he started one of his funniest standup routines by making fun of a retarded homeless man when he would come in and ask for food money at the store he worked at. he would make the Hobo recite the story of "dolemite" for some change to eat. Then it became the staple of his standup routine for yours as he became big (the Ray guy)

Not funny in my opinion at all.

Search in Google for "duelin firemen". It's not hard to come up with relevant links as to its origin.

Wasn't this a quote from The Simpsons? Seem to remember it being a Homerism.

"the old voices were so much better."

I totally agree. Plus, with the 1 million+ they put down
to re-dub it, it's very unlikely we'll ever hear the
original voices on DVD.

I still prefer watching anime in the original japanese, tho.

I've now been mentioned (by name I might add) on my favorite hip gaming site.

Do I get to be a hipster yet?

Until then, I'll still be waiting to break my teeth on that jawbreaker I ordered (btw thanks for the bottlecap suggestion blue).

Later,
Mat

#14: I'm interested in the fact that this objection has been raised in the same forums where there were all sorts of complaints about plans to remove references to the WTC from various media.

Ok, good point, but you do have to admit that there's a bit of a difference between acknowledging that the World Trade Towers once existed, and joking about an airplane smashing into a skyscraper.

"Would be curious to learn your source regarding its origin. Regardless of the date it was created, releasing it at this time seems a little ghoulish."

Look at the dates on the site and you can clearly see it predates 9/11. I'm interested in the fact that this objection has been raised in the same forums where there were all sorts of complaints about plans to remove references to the WTC from various media.

Not to mention the fact that most of the games mentioned here focus on guns and shooting, which are responsible for far more deaths than 9/11 ever could be... I'm not saying 9/11 isn't a sensitive topic, but this seems an excersize in selective sensitivity.

Given that the video pre-dates the tragedy, I'd say it's more appropriate to appreciate it for the insanity it was trying to represent, rather than to use it as a vehicle for still more political correctness.

But, #11, it's oh so hip to make a trite current event a personal drama. Even if it defies all reasoning.

It's from an unreleased 3DO game, which dates it as probably back in the mid '90s. Long before OBL and his retard clown posse got any bright ideas involving planes. Calm down, people.
