With regards to the IMDB blurb titled, "Lord Of The Rings Madness", this is just another example of wackos who aren't happy unless they're protesting something, even if that something is as silly and unfounded as this. Why do so many clueless dolts feel that it is their duty to protect the rest of the world from their own delusions?
Since you're having e-mail problems, why don't you setup a link on the front page to post e-mail news that otherwise would get lost, to a private forum that only you can read. That way when your e-mail server goes down, anyone can post news to your board. Just make sure that they have to login in to do it.Interesting idea, but I'm afraid it's not that practical. A lot of the mail we get is from companies and other sites that use mailing lists, and they simply have the news@bluesnews.com address included as one of many. We certainly can't expect them to specifically visit our site and post, say, a press release into that forum, when a mailing list is so much more convenient to them.
Maybe everyone even gets used to posting news for your access only and it might even start taking a big load of your server. Our mail is handled by a different machine than the rest of the site (and one we don't have direct access to, that's a big part of the problem). So using a submission forum on our website would actually add (however little) to our server load rather than reduce it.
