"Why did it take 7 months to change a game to work on a different hardware?" Hmm ...
1) To make it look BETTER on a PC & Monitor than the 640x480 (or 800x600) resolution that you get on a TV (look at Final Fantasy VIII port from PS to PC for a STRAIGHT port, yuck!)
2) They are likely spending LESS (human) resources to get this accomplished than they spent on the original PS2 project, therefore, more time required.
3) Just because no content changes are happening, does not mean that you can just press a button that says "Port from PS2 to PC". It must be MANUALLY reprogrammed and applied to different graphics languages (ie, DirectX) and operating system platforms (ie, Windows).
4) We don't care what small games you've programmed or how many languages you can program, it's nothing compared to the scope of a game of this caliber, so don't throw that on the table
