Out of the Blue

Happy Earth Day... take your planet to lunch today. Seems we've been getting some slight relief from the drought in these parts lately... I'm not sure that any significant accumulation has take place at the reservoirs, but the frequent rainfalls have gotten the backyard in high gear. Unfortunately wet grass is not practical to cut (or at least that's the excuse I've been giving MrsBlue), so its growth has not been met by the appropriate corresponding mowing, and things are getting a little tangled. I'm going to have to deal with it soon, though, or I'll have to use a machete instead of a lawnmower. Of course a machete is more in line with Earth Day than a power mower (and more fun), so that idea may have more merit than I imagined at first.

Play Time: Highway. Thanks Masterdog.
Link of the Day: Meet Yoshi's Boxx. Thanks Abe.
Bonus Link: Steve Ballmer: Movie Star. Thanks Capt Gerkin. Not as Ben Grimm?

[q When I was young, I occasionally used a "slingblade" to cut high grass down to reasonable length.
My daddy called it a kaiser blade...

if you have an edger, then you can give the yard a quick run thru with that, trimming it down to mowable levels. Or you could always invest in the BlueTractor

If he played his cards right he could be making money hand-over-fist should he decide to go into business making them.

Nothing says he has to be the person doing it.

My Dad worked in Indonesia for a while a few years ago. Our gardener used to use a machete to cut the lawn, even when he was offered a push-mower. He had a really practised swing, where he would just thwack the ground so that the grass was cut to an even length.

As a lad, I once watched the back lawn grow almost an entire summer without being mowed - my dad ended up using a scythe over 2 days to cut it down short enough that the mower could go over it.

Nothing like seeing your old man methodically wielding a scythe to get ya doing any chores on time!

I'll have to use a machete instead of a lawnmower.

You forgot the third - and most preferable - option. Paying some kid down the street to do it for you.

Blue,
Mowing the yard when its wet is bad for your yard. Don't do it! Its not an excuse its a known factoid.....

That has to be the coolest hardware mod in existance. That guy will be buried in an avalanche of people wanting him to make the same rig for them. If he played his cards right he could be making money hand-over-fist should he decide to go into business making them.

You know, i keep seeing the sites that get posted here about a day or two before they get reported by Blue, and everytime i see them i keep meaning to send them in, and then i kick myself for not doing it when someone else does it for me!

but in terms of the ultimate case mod, this one pretty much cleans up!

btw, first post! (Early class)
