Announcing Stalingrad on PC.IGN.com is the first word on a new first-person shooter in development for PC and Xbox at French company 4X Studio, which is already working on Iron Storm. The game puts the player in the role of a highly skilled sniper (a gameplay element that's also prominent in Iron Storm), and the story has a few more details on the gameplay you can expect, as well as the first three screenshots and a concept image.
I was in the bookstore reading a book called "3D ART" that had color screenshots of a mod for Quake III called Stalingrad and discussed texture creation and level design for it. I didn't actually read the text just captions, but I wonder if that "evolved" into this game or whether the mod guys basically got there first. If so there might be copyright issues or trademark (same name for same product)? Anyone else hear of this mod?
I don't think you want completely true to life sniper battles. They would involve really long drawn out periods of passive waiting. Realism can be painfully boring and frustrating.
Especially if multiplayer ends up being "Behind Enemy Lines"-esque sniper battles. Also hope its a little more realistic than the recent FPS releases..
I hope you meant Enemy at the Gates-esque sniper battles, because Behind Enemy Lines blew, and I don't think it had any sniper battles.
