Out of the Blue

When it reigns it pores, or something like that. I was starting to get crazy (or crazier) trying to figure out what was causing my browser to repeatedly crash, when notes from readers began tricking in reporting that they too were experiencing browser crashes, and believed the cause to be an ad from this site. A little confab with UGO gave the impression that they'd identified and removed the culprit, but a few more crashes accompanied by a few more notes from readers indicate they were being overly optimistic here. It's not like these ads are paying much at this point anyway, so for now, if they are going to further screw us, they are going to have to take us out to dinner first, and I have yoinked the ad code temporarily as a radical solution to this problem. Apologies for the difficulties this has caused.

Blue's News polo shirt, but what I would really be into would be a Blue's News hat, preferably black.

ooo, swanky - ball cap, or one of them bucket types? I'd prefer the former, but I'd suspect some would prefer the latter... hehe - some of us north of the 49th might like a toque option too, eh?

I'd certainly consider a coffee mug, and the ability to pay for an ad-free BluesNews. After all I've been visiting for over a third of a decade.

I'm running XP with opera 6.01, and I'm happy to report that after several visits a day and Blue's as my homepage I have experienced exactly Zero Crashes.

1. Although I haven't visited the site as much, especially during the daytime period, I haven't had any crashes with the site. This is with XP and version 6.x with the latest updates/patches.

2. As has been mentioned numerous other times, polo shirts would be a nice addition. Although quite geeky :o, they would at least be something I could/would wear when going out and about. I purchased the "pair" deal when they were first announced, but I only wear them around the house and/or when spending time being lazy.

3. As always, Blue should already know that I and a few others would be willing to donate money to the site. I already pay for two ISPs, a FilePlanet personal server, numerous utilities, an IGN insider account, and have donated to more than one site; I would certainly give money to the one site I read/visit more than any other.

4. w00t for Morrowind.

Hoping it does ship at the end of this month, crossing fingers,
Ray

The ads are creeping farther and farther to the right. FIX IT. I shouldn't have to horizontal scroll a 1024x768 screen to read a webpage.

Hey Blue what about setting up something with Paypal so readers can help foot the bill. I know I'd gladly donate for the years of service you've given to the community.

I don't even mind that ad... (even though it is rather, well, excessive) I really can't ever recall being quite as excited about a game coming out as I am for Morrowind.

...but does it have to come out right at the beginning of prime motorcycle season!

WOW I hope UGO is paying a ton for THAT ad. It's like the site has become Morrowind(tm) Presents Blue's News.

I've had another website (www.codeguru.com) crash constantly under me in the last few days. It's their ads also, and it wouldn't surprise me if it were Flash as well.

When this site crashed on me this morning (on the comments page, which still had an ad) the exception was in the flash file.

Is it any coincidence that Macromedia just released a new version of Flash? Methinks they have a lot of explaining to do.

I found that the crash was being cause by the file "flash.ocx" which is part of the macromedia flash stuff. I deleted the file, and after that everything worked ok. When I went to another site with flash it just re-installed. Macromedia probably had something bad in that active x plug-in.
