Out of the Blue

I wished I'd remembered in advance of yesterday that the Oscars were last night, something I annually take only a passing interest in. This is because I usually don't get to see any of the nominated films until the following year when they appear on cable (though I was thrilled to see Randy Newman finally score his little statue last night), but it would have been appropriate to link to loony's OscarĀ® Picks on Shacknews to provide some continuity. Maybe I'll actually see some of this year's nominees in time for the next awards and pick my own (probably just as likely I'll be nominated myself, so perhaps I'll just shoot for remembering the show is on).

Noticing I am a self-confessed sucker for neat Flash and Shockwave games on the Internet, the folks at canDo games realized this was an opportunity for some log-rolling, and sent along a special Blue's News version of their game called BallsUp (Shockwave required). The game is a shareware dealie with a full version for purchase (we are not part of the revenue stream/puddle for this, btw), but the Blue's News level is part of the free evaluation portion of the game. Enjoy!

Am I the only one miffed when the news can't keep basic ideas straight? Kids with improved thumb dextairity gained through useage are not mutations. To be a mutation, it would have to be a genetic change which would then be passed to future generations. This is just like how gymnists have better balance, and surgeons better manual dextairty... training.

Lord of the Rings only got 4 awards out of 13 nominations? And it lot most of them to Russel Crowe? This is why I never watch the academy awards.

...got the shaft from that fart joke of a movie Shrek. Oh well, I guess Pixar has nothing on poor old Randy Newman, at least they got the short animated film award.
