Out of the Blue

I wished I'd remembered in advance of yesterday that the Oscars were last night, something I annually take only a passing interest in. This is because I usually don't get to see any of the nominated films until the following year when they appear on cable (though I was thrilled to see Randy Newman finally score his little statue last night), but it would have been appropriate to link to loony's OscarĀ® Picks on Shacknews to provide some continuity. Maybe I'll actually see some of this year's nominees in time for the next awards and pick my own (probably just as likely I'll be nominated myself, so perhaps I'll just shoot for remembering the show is on).

Noticing I am a self-confessed sucker for neat Flash and Shockwave games on the Internet, the folks at canDo games realized this was an opportunity for some log-rolling, and sent along a special Blue's News version of their game called BallsUp (Shockwave required). The game is a shareware dealie with a full version for purchase (we are not part of the revenue stream/puddle for this, btw), but the Blue's News level is part of the free evaluation portion of the game. Enjoy!

"The use of gadgets such as mobile phones and GameBoys has caused a physical mutation in young people's hands, according to a British Sunday newspaper."

physical mutation != genetic mutation

I agree that it's misleading (and misused) language, though.

Also according to Darwin (should you choose to believe him or not), mutations are caused randomly, not through extended use of something. So if our younger generation did indeed mutate this dextrous thumbs, then according to Darwin's theory it has nothing to do with the gameboy's and such and it simply occured by chance.
