Dungeon Siege Q&A

Dungeon Siege Developer Q&A #1 on RPG Vault kicks off another of their trademark Q&As where a single question is posed to several members of a development team, this time around quizzing Gas Powered Games about Dungeon Siege, their upcoming RPG. The question that kicks off this series is "Speaking from your personal preferences, what is your favorite way of developing your main character in Dungeon Siege, and why?" Respondents are: designer Chris Taylor, production coordinator Bert Bingham, art director Steve Thompson, producer Jake McMahon, tester Jason Moerbe, 3D artists Joe Kresoja; Darren Lamb; and Lee Phemister, assistant producer Marsh Macy, engineer Scott Bilas, community coordinator Darren Baker, and level designer Chris Burns.

as if it had been designed solely to impress with its sheer suckitude.

suckitude. That really made me laugh. I'm going to have to add that one to my vocabulary.

I guess the lesson I've learned from all the sucky games in the past is that until the game is out, so is the jury...

Amen. Fool me once... you know.

That's what you'll be saying after playing Dungeon Siege for a few days. Or you'll say, "...oh, remember that old game Diablo? To bad it couldn't be more like this..."

Truthfully Diablo (I&II) had it's moments but had a huge lack of story and depended far too much on the hack & slash game play. I must admitt I played Diablo(I) through the entire way and played to within hours of finishing Diablo II but was totally pissed with the whole lack of a "world state" game save for the last Act. So I put it aside and never went back for more than a few hours at a time.

With DS we will have two huge worlds to play and hopefully a large amount of user created game play to follow. Not to mention all the hidden goodies to find which could take quite a long time.

Now if we can just get a confirmed "gone gold" statis...

I am torn between buying Morrowind just days before Dungeon Siege, just a week after buying Ghost Recon Desert Siege. Bring on the gaming goodness.

Gotta agree with number 3. Diablo 1 and 2 were both shit in the purest definition - I have no idea what people see in them - so anything would be better. However, if DS isn't much! better, then it won't be my cup of tea either. So here's hoping it's much better. That demo better be damn good.

You guys seem pretty willing to buy into the hype. I for one will wait until a bevy of reviews are out before I decide to buy this. I remember getting Black and White the first day it was released, after it had been hyped until it was accelerated nearly to the speed of light, and I thought it sucked with a remarkable amount of proficiency, as if it had been designed solely to impress with its sheer suckitude. Even the coolness of Total Annihilation doesn't get Chris Taylor a free ride. I guess the lesson I've learned from all the sucky games in the past is that until the game is out, so is the jury...

Personally I couldn't tell a difference between diablo 1 and 2, they both are the same shit. So anything at this point should be better.
