Out of the Blue

We had a little scare last night here at the Blue Tower as Hudson the wonder dog, in an uncharacteristic larcenous moment stole some fresh-baked shortbread from a counter where it was cooling off (at least this is unusual for her, Airedales in general are notorious for this kind of thing). The scary part is that this stuff was laced with chocolate, which, while tranya-like nectar for some of us, can be a deadly poison to doggies. After keeping a close watch on her for several hours we decided she was fine, in fact, between the ill-gotten gains and all the ensuing attention, she probably thought she'd gone to heaven, even without shuffling off this mortal coil.

Who says you shouldn't give your dog a bone?!?!

Anyway, they weren't fed for the last several thousand years on bones (maybe scraps of meat on bones, and the marrow as a treat). But you shouldn't be giving them chicken bones, in addition to the aforementioned fish bones.

Hey now...a little ethyl-alchol never hurt anyone too much.

Ahh anyway, I'm a firm beliver that if we have been eating it for the last 15,000 years then it can't be all that bad. All that salt, eggs, butter bad for you...ahh forget it...you gotta die eventually...might as well enjoy yourself and life.

Most animals are smarter then humans in regards to consumption. Human is the only animal that will poison themselves to death with alchol...

Only man made chemicals pose a risk to animals, anti-freeze coolant and advil are the two worst ones for dogs.

The same people that tell you the chocolate is "bad" for your dog are the ones that tell you not to give them bones...

HELLO IDIOTS RETARDS WHAT DID WE FEED ANIMALS FOR THE LAST SERVERAL THOUSAND YEARS AGO BEFORE PROCESSED ANIMAL FOOD???

Use common sense, just don't feed them fish bones or painkillers....

Dogs in 2nd world and 3rd world countries eat bread and cabbage...

Enough for my daily rant...

Well...I was going to wait and post this...bit I figured that...I might as well say it. But chocolate is "poisonous to diabetic's" too....well then again so is sugar...depending on your way of thinking. Anyway...I simply wanted to point out the flaw in this...see arsnic is poisonous too but it's in lots of foods, it's in water but you can build up an immunity to it.

Yeah, my dog ate my entire lot of Christmas candy two years
in a row and didn't get sick...I love the little bastard,
but I wanted to see him puke it all back up(btw, this
included all of the friggin' wrappers as well(minus a couple
cherry mint wrappers)).

Maybe it is but...my little chihuahua who weights in at 4 lbs ate 1 lb of chocholate chips one night and after me and my wife waited for the worse to happen. Guess what? Nothing did...

Now when people say chocolate is poisionous to dogs I say that maybe so...but not allways

Some time ago, I was obligated to house-sit for my parents and thier little white, puff-ball American Eskimo (think albino Pomerinnian).

Well, I brought along some supplies to get me through a night with no internet in the form of a couple of spliffers tucked away in the side pocket of my packsack.

I went out of the house for a bit and when I had returned the little mongrel had sniffed out my stash, and had EATEN all of it!

I wan't sure what exactly I was going to tell the vet (or my folks, for that matter) should it have come to that, but strangely it didn't even phase the little guy (He didn't even get the damn munchies).

saturday nite i poured myself a rocks glass of sambuca ,drank about 1/2 then left the room for a while -when i returned our new "brussels griffon" puppy ,all 8 lbs of him, was absolutly hammered....i mean stagger-fall down drunk ! torn between laughing hystericly & genuine concern for his health,we kept a close eye on him for the next 4 hours (he pissed all over himself-his crate & blanket at one point during) -needless to say he had a WHOPPER of a hangover sun a.m. as he was making these wierd alien grunts + whimpers while waking up ....but his breath was licourishly fresh !

Jar Jar is there. Look at the scene where Obi-Wan is reporting on the clones, and the group is standing around watching his hologram.

It's ten years on, though, and he has a serious position and has matured. I think he only has about five minutes of screen time, and none of them will be slapstick.

I used to have a dog that would run you down and tackle you for chocolate. She might have died if she didn't get it...

Read your second link. The toxicity of methyl-xanthines in mg/kg is approximately the same for dogs and humans. Dogs are generally smaller, though, and able to eat a large amount in proportion to their bodyweight.
