Out of the Blue

There's a sad obituary in the news today, as Academy Award-Winning Animation Director & Artist, Chuck Jones, Passes Away at 89 (thanks AJ Donnelly) has word that the famed animator has died. Chuck refined Bugs Bunny to the style by which many (most?) of us remember him, created the Road Runner (the cartoon one, not the Plymouth), the still classic adaptation of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and of course, The Curiosity Shop, starring Pamelyn Ferdin (story).

Link of the Day: Human Virus Scanner. Thanks James Spafford.
Story of the Day: Man stabbed in abdomen with swordfish (thanks Micah Leiff Nutt). But if they outlaw fish, only outlaws will have them. "We don't see this kind of thing very often," said Pinellas County Sheriff spokeswoman Marianna Pasha.
Bonus Story: Famed hacker Mitnick greets former target. Thanks Jamie Fullerton.
Media of the Day: A dog's tongue you've got to see to believe. Thanks LwoodPDowd.

I still to this day find the humor in Chuck Jones' characters.

It takes wit to leave a lasting impression, or at least an impression that has lasted this long.

I grew up watching Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. I can't tell you how much I loved those cartoons. To this day there is nothing that comes close to the quality of animated excellence that Chuck Jones did (with the exception of The Simpsons).
If I had a lyrical gift, Id write something beautiful. But from my heart I say this. Thank you Chuck. Goodbye.

"but am i the only that finds it humorous that hes dead?"

Yeah, pretty much. There was nothing funny about his death.
If, say, a 10 ton safe fell on him, THEN I might agree with
you. However, that didn't happen. He'll be a legend for
quite a long time. Brilliant entertainer.

You're not funny, you're not clever and no-one will remember you when you're dead, because they'll have no reason to. Faceless, nameless.

do you guys notice how many stories of the day come from TAMPA FLORidA

they aare weirdos

You don't know the half of it! Just try living here. I live on the southside of nowhere, about ten minutes from Satan-banishing Inglis. Nothin' but rednecks, hicks, and barefoot bam-bams. Oh, of course, we have the wannabe ghetto in Ocala, and also Geriatric City. Don't believe the hype! FL is to be avioded at all costs! Save yourselves, once you come here, you can never leave...

Chuck Jones was one of my heroes. Thanks largely to Cartoon Network's "Chuck Jones Show", I've come to realize that he was easily one of the most creative and influential animators around. Not to mention his cartoons are probably more entertaining to me as an adult than as a child. Most people today tend to write off cartoons as kiddie fare, which is too bad because they will complete overlook the genius of Chuck Jones.

very few if any have equaled Chuck Jones' talent.

i remeber an interview where he was asked why his cartoons had so much appeal to people of all ages. He answered "we wrote the cartoons to entertain ourselves first" (or something along those lines...).

Anyhow, Ive yet to see any cartoon, past or present, equal the quality and humor of Looney Toons.

T-T-T-Thats all Chuck...
