WarCraft III Movie

This morning's movie mania moves right along with a new WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos movie preview on Belgian site SpelletjesGarnaal, taking their multiplayer beta build of Blizzard's 3D RTS for a spin. Longer and more informative than most of their previews, the downloadable (25.5 MB) or streaming Windows Media Player movie runs for more than 16 minutes, offering lots of gameplay footage with their usual wacky Flemish commentary.

pretty dissapointed 2, I havent played it, but from the buttload of beta-reviews videos and other I figure it's a huge let down for those who enjoy legions of orc and men fightin and leaving bloody field covered with dead bodies... well you know what I mean.

There is still plenty of that! Just depends on who you play. I mainly play 3v3's, and they're sooo fun. 4v4's just get frickin' insane. It's basically non-stop action in large games like that.

It get monotonous, but what I've said to some other people is true, you have to play the game to understand :]. If I were in your shoes, I probably wouldn't be that interested in the game either. But since I'm actually out on B.net playing these 3v3's and 4v4's, I love it, and definately plan to purchase it as soon as it is released.

What I really want is battles like those seen in Lord of the Rings "last alliance of men and elves marching against legions of Mordor - yeah baby!

I guess I'm just an old and bitter gamer, but I don't care for a lot of what I'm seeing in the beta thusfar (and yes, I am legitimately in it) -- it's like Starcraft, only slower, with less units, and less fun. You can't really play defensively, so it generally favors whoever finds the enemy base first and starts wailing on it.

The game is more aggressive but it is still fun. I prefer the original version to the 'hero' based form of this game but it's actually a lot better of the screenshots make it out to look. I thought Warcraft 2 went rubbish; I liked the road building system and the game does seem less focused on bases than the original.

For WC3, just go to "Custom Game" create a private game and it starts up like that

For me when you create a custom game it DOESN'T do that and I have seen people use the cracked version and it DOES start like that. Still, if they say it's legitimate then I'm not going to doubt them.

I actually would have prefered just a remake of the original with better graphics; the gameplay in the original was just so spot on. W3 'may' just get onto my shopping list if it continues this good.

actually i thought it was alot like SC. at least, they incorporated alot of SC ideas into it. the night elves' movable buildings and the orcs' bunkers come to mind. that's the only races i've played so far, i'm sure there is more.

You really have to stop trying to compare it to Starcraft and accept that it's really a totally different style of game. You can't play it like you play Starcraft, it just doesn't work. It's an rts like Starcraft, but the comparison ends there IMO.

". . .but I don't care for a lot of what I'm seeing in the beta thusfar. . . "

I didn't care much for it at first, either. But since then, I've really gotten addicted to it. I disagree with it being slower than Starcraft. To me, it is much faster. In SC I was defense until the very end. WC3 favors offensive tactics. It took some getting used to, but it is a lot funner now. Perhaps this will change as the beta goes on, but it doesn't matter to me. I'm really looking forward to the single player part of it now.

I dunno, I'll play some more, but so far it seems very lackluster to me. You can polish the same rock as much as you like, but it's always gonna be the same rock, y'know?

I had to extract it from javascript on the page and then run it through a rawurldecode function to make it into a real url.

When I tried accessing it with mozilla I got a bunch of asses mooning me, no joke. *sigh* I hate IE only pages. Makes it hard on us linux people.
