Oh yes, BC is definately going to make up for lost ground to games like Starfleet Command. ST games overall have had their ups and downs, but this is definately a HIGH up!

LOL @ Blake's Seven reference... Could you steal the Clippie the Paperclip code from Microsoft, marry it to the finest sarcasm the BBC can muster and use it to simulate Orac?

"Call those tactics? A three year old child could formulate a sounder plan of action! Huge surprise! Our mentally deficient Captain has been outfought again!"

I can't wait for this game so that I can mod the hell out of it and turn it into a Blake's 7 Flight deck commander

I have plans to recreate the flight deck of the Liberator with you as Blake sitting in the comfy couch commanding the rest of the crew as you run away from any sort of battle. Then just as things get really bad Avon will get up and leave the flight deck. Then we will have a Blake's 7 game to be proud of.

I admit that might not be a reason to buy it if it's not the sort of thing you're interested in, but I love Capital Ship combat sims, especially in space, and I enjoyed the level this one was pitched at.

I've been looking for a game that didn't require me to micro-manage - and this finally seems to be it. The Tactical officer seemed to do a decent job of running his end of the show, leaving me scoot between helm, engineering and tactical to shape the higher level tactics.

Not sure if it'll get old fast - but given how damn cheap games are, it's likely to be worth the money. Unless you expect to get 100 hours of gameplay out of your £25 of course...

Do you really think that a company like Activistion would use Gamespy (gayspy) as their main down site?

If you do you’re a fool .

Try looking at the games web site before you go downloading from gayspy
While half you guys were waiting in some digital line up, I was downloading it from Activistions FTP site at a cool 500k a sec

DON’T USE Gamespy (I cant think of a word that expresses how much I hate that network)

Well, you guys can bitch and moan about fileplanet waits n such, but I just spent 10 (ten!) hours downloading the friggin thing on my 56k. Overnighters are the worst! Finally got it tho and have been playing ALL DAY! Great game, some things I would tweak, but overall, nice. Might actaully redeem the pitiful world of Star Trek starship sims...

Is it really necessary to complain about File Planet in every single new demo thread? If you don't like it, don't go there...it's that simple.

Fuckin' File Planet makes you wait 3 hours to start the download. I'll have my 15 minute download from Games Domain done in a few minutes...

File Planet does suck...

This demo was fun! I wasn't expecting much, but I enjoyed it. I won't get the full version because I have too many games and Real Life to deal with ;).

You moron. FilePlanet isn't that bad. What would you rather do, search around for mirors (the 3D Gamers ones were useless) and end up downloading at like 3k/sec, or wait a few minutes in line at FilePlanet and then get 200k/sec? (That's what I'm getting now.. 200k/sec.)

It seemed promising at first, the semi 1st person bridge interface is a pretty cool concept. But it quickly gets old once you've seen the same non-lipped synched animations over and over and the same blown up pixelated faces.

The graphics looked WAY better in the screenshots. Even with all the options maxed out on my GF3, its not what I expected. The ships look decent, at least until you get close. The close ups of the stations, asteroids and planets from orbit show horrible texture stretching.

The gameplay is quite linear. If you really really like star trek, you'd probably like playing through the story.

I thought the real-time combat might be the saving grace, but my initial impressions were that it is trying to be star fleet command but doesnt quite make it. The interface, while quaint in keeping with the movies look and feel, seems far to constrained in combat.

oh man oh man... another Star Trek the cash cow ripoff... just something to get the little trekies to spend their hard earned cash.
Only good thing I can say about it is the many uses of color and thats it... its just plain bad.

I liked it a LOT... I'm sure it won't be everyone's cup of tea but that's tough shit for them. Bridge view is a bit cheesy and no lip sync what so ever, but when it comes to capital ship combat in the tatical view... it's damn sweet.

I really like what I'm seeing in the demo. Feels like being right in the middle of a TNG episode.

Thank goodness there is finally a good TNG game. Raven did a good job with Elite Force, but I don't care for Voyager at all.

I found it very enjoyable. Unfortunately there's a lot to take in, control-wise, so most of the demo is the tutorial. It certainly looks like it might kick later on in the game.

Quick battle is pretty fun too; it's nice to be able to try out the other couple of ships (cloaking!).
