More Free WW2 Online

On the heels of the release of a new version of World War II Online earlier today (story), Strategy First and Playnet send word that they've extended the re-evaluation period for former players of this MMOG through the end of this month. More details on the offer can be found on the World War II Online Website.

Its not like they extended the free play because so many people came back, more likely because nobody bothered.

#12 I'm with ya - Fuck CRS and WWII Offline - I can't wait for the day when someone sues the software companies for putting out pieces of crap that don't do what they say.

CRS you can shove your freeplay up your ass

10 and 11 go back and play your shit game. I doubt very seriously that many people are playing the game and I sure as hell can't belive they have tha many paying players. Your game sucks your player base sucks and your shit ass game won't be around in 6 years because someone will make the game the way it should have been done to begin with but with much better graphics. Only one thing equals WWII On-line and that a steaming pile of Shit.

From what I understand. The Chap 11 allowed them to relocate to a smaller server set up to contain costs. They where set up to run 10000 on line at one time but player base is running between 1500 and 2000 on at one time.
SO they found a ISP that would be less money. SMart move if you ask me. Why have costs for 50000 player base when you only need to support 15000?
CRS stated that cost are now in line that the player base can now support the game. 3 to 6 mos? nah more like 3 to 6 years.

Just got done. 1700 people on line trading shot.
1.52 improved this game alot. Tanks are fun, planes are great, Inf is better but still needs work. There are 12000
loyal players that poney up 10 bucks a mo. This game will be around for quite some time.

Playnet has already filed Chapter 11. This re-eval may be the last gasp. I say in 3-6 months the game will likely cease to be.

That is true but they really are in need of more players. Too bad they screwed so many at the start other wise things would be different.

I had bought WWII Online when it first hit shelves but like everyone knows, the performance, features, and even gameplay were all lacking big time early on. When they finally announced that the pay time would start I had already uninstalled the game, and was glad I hadn't gotten hooked on a monthly pay for play game.

After that initial disapointment there is no way I'd give it another shot, even for a free trial. Sounds stupid I guess, but I've got enough shooter games to keep me busy without a monthly fee.

I hope at least that WW2 Online is one of the cases game companies consider before they release an unfinished product. Even if Cornered Rat/Strategy First/Playnet could have squeezed out another month or two from their budgets to get a more solid game it might have made a difference, and the product would have been more succesful overall.

Now they have to just keep slugging away and hope that word of mouth eventually makes them a good money maker.
