The only good models nowadays are those found in racing games. Everything else seems to just suck ass, if you know what I mean.

Except for those found in Doom 3. Damn, it is so cool how those eyes glowed in the dark.

It doesn't take brains and the merits of the individual to get funded and start a company today, all it takes is you have to be an ex-id employee.

Steed speaks and nothing of any worth ever comes out, just like Romero, and McGee, and the others, all funded because of their ex-company name. Not their talents, and skills.

Interesting.

How do I know this? Because Steed is the perfect example. Basic modeling skills, sub-par animations, narrow boobyfest mind. Need I say more? I know of art school lab helpers who can model and animate at Steed's level.

Laugh.

I heard this too. I heard he was fired repeatedly. I heard he's been fired from every job he ever had. I heard his own parents fired him. "Son, you're fired!"

I think a more poignant question would be not what did this game cost, but what is it making? Rumor has it, the figures aren't pretty.

Please explain to me how you arrived at $5 mil for Betty? Throwing Kim's name out there is clever but pointless. You're on crack if you think Betty cost even one tenth that price.

This is untrue...anyone who knows this industry knows that Paul Steed was laid off from WT. Maybe he wasn't fired, but out of all the artists there, they chose him. Go figure!

Guys, here's a little tidbit that Kim Eiring from WT might not want you to know about the Betty Bad budget: it was grossly overinflated and way out of control.

From the salaries to the management, marketing, and expense accounts, they spent close to 5 million dollars on that little piece of fluff. The competitive figures show that even as an investment, Betty Bad is nothing more than a low value tech demo and at that pricetag will never generate returns. Since the debut 3 weeks ago, WT's become the laughing stock of the industry.

It's a shame really. Personally, I love their visualizers, and I'm happy Paul is apparently going to be focusing his new dev team on making new ones.

Paul left WT to be a third party developer for them. He's got a sound, and what will probably be a very mutually beneficial contracted relationship with them, and the idea that he's been fired is way off the mark.

Not.

I left WildTangent to start my own company developing content for WT using their technology and their cash as start-up capital.

I've only been fired once in my life and that was from Asgard because I wouldn't play nice with the other god(s) who were a'scared of me cause I occasionally break things. Those rare whiners from Midgard also helped me get the boot but hey...that's in the past. I screwed up a great thing so now I have to go out and make something even better.

In other words, you haven't heard from me because life is very good right now so get a clue, Sherlock and don't make me come back into your little cyber-lives. As much as I'd like to stir things up in the slowness that is, I have better things to do with my time.

Then again, never forget who it is with whom you fuck ;]

Regarding spyware: is Gator or Bonzai Buddy spyware?

Depends. The latest versions generally require you to accept their terms of service before installing them, and some would say that this isn't spyware. But they still collect data about you in the background and send it to their server. Older versions of these programs did not require you to accept their terms and they were nearly impossible to uninstall. Even now, I wouldn't trust that Gator or Banzai Buddy was completely off the system by just going to add/remove programs in windows...

Here's a database of a lot of spyware programs:
http://www.spychecker.com/

There's tons of resources on spyware on the internet.. Do a search, and be a little uneasy about the direction the internet is taking...

i'm very suspicious about Gator. It claims to do something that windows already does, auto-complete. so I wonder what it's really doing... plus it comes bundled with Offer Companion which IS spy ware EVIL! EVIL!

I think web based gaming is fantastic idea, its Wild Tangent I have a problem with. Spyware may seem piddling to some people but to me it starts things towards a slippery slope of just wanting a little bit more info to make that list more profitable. At what point will it become an open door into your viewing habits with your name/address, etc tacked on? It doesnt take that much more effort to grab an IP number and while some companies may swear up and down they tracking people anonymously how many more will push it a little farther?

Yeah I sound paranoid but I dont really care. Wild Tangent can sell it to the rest of the cattle out there who dont give two shits.
